    *fingers crossed for Daft Punk*

    • has there been a rumour that they will play?

i will cry with joy if they do....

      sophiacherryx @chunty | 23 Nov '09, 11:16 | X
      • no but I'm starting one now, maybe Eavis will hear it

        chunty @sophiacherryx | 23 Nov '09, 11:18 | X
  • Hope there's a good Other Stage headliner

    LordLuciusBanter | 23 Nov '09, 11:08 | X
    • Sarah will be watching U2, though.

You won't cave and watch with her?

      TheoGB @LordLuciusBanter | 23 Nov '09, 11:18 | X
  • "and will require them to make a flying visit to the UK in the middle of a North American tour."

    FUCK THE ENVIRONMENT, EH BONO?

    TheoGB | 23 Nov '09, 11:09 | X
  • Cool

Only 2 more ropey headliners and I'll be vindicated in my decision not to get out of bed early enough this year

  • I'm sure this will make a lot of people happy

    jacques_le_biscuit_ | 23 Nov '09, 11:13 | X
    • you think?

i'm not so sure. i dont really mind them choosing "the big bands" but i thought u2 wouldnt be that popular.

however, i dont want to get into a dicusssion about glastonbury headliners - far too futile.

      meths @jacques_le_biscuit_ | 23 Nov '09, 11:16 | X
      • C'mon theye're HUGE

I'm not a fan, but that is a massive coup for Glastonbury.

And as you say there's no worries if you don't like it because there's so many other stages to go to. Or get to Shangri La early - the Blade Runner city thing they had last year was absolutely INCREDIBLE

  • I'm gonna cross-post from the Music board too:

At least the tickets have been sold beforehand, so the festival won't be overrun by V Festival-types. And how many times do we have to say it: The main stage is nearly always full of overblown dullness - it keeps the boring people in one place and there's plenty of other stuff there that's exciting.

    • haha its been overrun by v-festival types for the last 10 years !

bring back the fence jumping crusties I say.

  • I thought Eavis hated them, so he would never book them.

Well it doesn't make me gutted for not getting tickets, so I'm fairly pleased.

    black_rooster | 23 Nov '09, 11:53 | X
  • U2 use to release some great stuff.

Their last 3 albums have been utter shite and why the fuck would you want to see them perform any of that crap?!

    Lo-Pan | 23 Nov '09, 11:57 | X
  • Exactly the sort of band I'd expect at Glastonbury

Not a dig at Glastonbury, but one of many reasons why I'll probably never go to Glastonbury.

    DanielKelly | 23 Nov '09, 11:59 | X
  • I'm not a U2 fan but I'll probably watch them

a best-off style set would be pretty good, I imagine.

    IndieAndy_Jones | 23 Nov '09, 11:59 | X
    • although do this mean they've already blown all their budget on U2?

headliners for saturday and sunday will be James Morrison and Greenish Day

      IndieAndy_Jones @IndieAndy_Jones | 23 Nov '09, 12:08 | X
    • I think any U2 set is one where you're best off somewhere else.

      TheoGB @IndieAndy_Jones | 23 Nov '09, 14:22 | X
      • bravo!

        IndieAndy_Jones @TheoGB | 23 Nov '09, 14:24 | X
  • I guess I'm going to have to eat my own arsehole now...

Come on Dance Tent, give us some fun!

    vamos | 23 Nov '09, 12:07 | X
  • Headlining Friday?

So they're going to pull off something bigger than U2 on Saturday?

    Radiohead? Stones? Jesus?

    vamos | 23 Nov '09, 12:08 | X

  • och shit.

    justanothersheeldz | 23 Nov '09, 12:10 | X
  • this will be amazing.

as long as they don't play too much of the new stuff. I have made the decision to go to Glastonbury based on this announcement.

and i can't fucking wait. it will be epic.

    sarkyfox | 23 Nov '09, 14:19 | X
    • Erm

Does that not mean that you haven't yet got a ticket? Good luck getting one now.

(Unless you bought a deposit ticket and were considering defaulting, in which case ignore me)

      Damian @sarkyfox | 23 Nov '09, 15:03 | X
      • i'll be working it (hopefully) as i have done the last two years,

so.... no, but i'll be going!
