If not, let's have one!
but it seems like it would get fairly repetitive quickly. was this the case with the first one?
The word is that that this game is quite a lot bigger and that they've ironed out some of the flaws. I just never tire of shooting zombies.
I got the first one the day it came out due to loving the demo. But really, once you get past the fun factor of taking on bazillions of rampaging zombies you'll soon realize there's nothing to aim for but getting achievements. And if like me you couldn't give a tenpenny fuck about achievements then there's very little incentive to play it. I sold the game 2 months later.
When you've got four people it's awesome, but if you're just buying it for single player then you'll probably get bored pretty quick.
And it's doing my head in. Will be good when the servers are sorted, whenever that may be.
you cannot stay in a spot any more, forcing you to run from point c whilst trying to run to point b all of the sudden to make the infected stop so you can progress adds real challenge, as does the new Spitter which makes you move also. Not to mention the variety of weather effects, especially mist and smoke which makes you pretty much blind as well. Bloody good fun though
I can't see myself getting through expert without being able to sit in a corner and hold L trigger.
- it's a million times harder. the new special infected are totally punishing and pretty crazy. the charger is one mean mother fucker.
- the team mates are dumb as fuck.
- graphics are much more varied, it's much better variety.
- the non-special infected (police, clowns, hazmat) are pretty insane.
- the music is even better
- the walking witch scares me shittless
- i don't like the new items, there is too many of them. boomer bile, defib, adrenaline, incendiary ammo just seem to complicate it
- i don't like the new shotgun. it's shit. the machine gun's much better
- not keen on Rochelle. don't fancy her. the other three are brilliant though.
- it's been a laggy mess online this weekend
Adrenaline is quite cool, I tend to use the pipe bomb though... im old fashioned like that (as opposed to the new items)
Been re-playing the demo loads though. The machete is probably one of my favourite weapons in a computer game - 3 zombie heads in 1 swipe.
but I just can't tear myself off the MW2 multiplayer yet. I'm going to have a busy Christmas!
and never once thought to join me in stoving a zombies head in with an electric guitar? Rectify this.
On a side note, L4D2 is definitely a struggle when you're forced to rely on computer-controlled teammates. The sorry bastards don't even have the good sense to pick up a molotov cocktail when offered. And yeah, this weekend gone...Laggy Laggggggg
It's still a huge improvement over the first, though. Level design is better, there's much-improved weapon variety, and reservations about the graphics are unfounded as they somehow seem much better in the full-game than on the demo.
Five minutes into the first campaign and I dare you not to have a soppy apocalyptic-grin all over your zombie-killing face.
I have neglected it since purchase, been juggeling MW2 online play and Dragon Age origin, but im gonna jump on this bitch tonight
but playing the demo, I thought the textures looked awful.
The engine's a bit dated now, right? It doesn't really seem to like the whole daylight thing...
great game though!
-Much more challenging than the first one. I see myself as a fairly competent FPS player, but sweet jesus, I was having trouble completing the 3rd level of the Mall level on normal mode (with 2 bots and 1 other human player).
-special infected are right bastards - Charger, Jockey, Spitter = all on the list, but all totes awesome. Twice I was charged, covered in spitter acid then a Jockey got me. TRIPLE THREAT ATTACK.
-new weapons are badass, especially the grenade launcher. Cleared a nice pathway when things started to go tits up.
-Melee weapons: only got to use one (fire axe) s'alright. Gonna, favour the crowbar next time I think.
-computer controlled bots are utter retards. I'd been constricted by a smoker right in front of two of them and they left me to fucking die. YOU ARE LOOKING RIGHT AT ME, HELP! (My team mate was on the other side of the map, also dying).
-Liking the collect the fuel idea to fill up the car, nice touch.
-Absolutely love the new levels (well, the Mall one.) setting it in daylight is great, it's still scary.
-new characters are good. I like Ellis the best.
-had dreams about zombies last night so should perhaps stop playing huh.
-the gore is terrific.
-hard rain is basically the scariest map of all time
-achievements have amazing names - "confederacy of crunches"!!!!!
-coach is a hero for the ages
-i love how the new infected change the game up - getting boomered is now a walk in the park compared to spitter goo
I had incendiary ammo on the grenade launcher. Only one shot mind, but it was pretty devastating.
essentially, find an incendiary pack, deploy, equip to current weapon and when you short a zombie, it lights up! :D
Dead Center is brutal, have fun. Not played any of the other levels yet (save for the 2 from The Parish from the demo).
Don't think I've got you added yet.
takes the place of the medikit. Use to revive dead team-mates.
possbily the greatest level in any shooter ever? it's so tense. the corn field at the end had me scared shitless, then the game tells me "oh, btw, go back" and i'm like shiiit. at one point, in the sugar mill, i had 6 witches in a row. wtf. i think the director thought "ah, he took care of the last one" so gave me loads. terrifying and stunning. then the storm started... fucking brilliant.
going to hopefully get to play through dead center tonight.
forcing you to leave some items behind for your return.
has anyone tried scavenge or realism mode yet? i had a go at scavenge but the lag was so bad at the weekend it was unplayable, same with vs, i had to ragequit ;_;
If you read the graffiti in the safehouse at the start it's all "the sugar mill is crawling with witches!!!"
Nerve wracking stuff.
pretty much amazing
is really just uncle phil....
Rescuing Gnome Chompski is the most fun I've had playing a videogame in ages!
Swamp Fever is the best campaign though, not a big fan of the daylight levels.
But the rest of the campaign is pretty dark and murky. The levels in daylight don't have as much atmosphere imo, last couple of chapters in The Parish are pretty good though. Not saying they're BAD, just prefer the darker maps.
and have only really played sports games so far. should i get this as a first fps game or something more straightforward, and save this for when i've got a bit more experience of xbox shooter action?
Took several attempts to beat the rock concert finale on The Carnival level, especially when I went back to rescue a mate, only to have a tank squash me, then a hunter incap my other mate who'd gone back to help both of us. I eventually finished it, albeit leaving both team mates to die because I'm a horrible person. I like The Midnight Riders song as well.
Hard Rain was interesting. I kind of zoned out what was going on (i.e. didn't take in the notion of a return journey, despite the prompting about supples) until I realised "WE'VE GOT TO GO BACK???" Fuck that. I basically tried to speedrun it, but there was no way that was going to work. One of my friends is also a massive benny and kept startling all the witches and ended up using all the health kits. Only took 2 attempts on the finale waiting for the boat though. Also, the tank seemed to get on with us which was fairly amusing. Terrific level though, the rain, slow movement and horrible atmosphere made it suitably tense. Best level I've played I think.
Spoke to another mate yesterday who said he'd be on tonight at some point.
Enjoy paying for the updates, you social cunts.
Played the Parish last night. My fucking GOD that finale is hard. And that Repo Lot with all the alarmed cars...Jesus. Talk about a snowballing disaster.
Got to love the gore in this game. I blew both arms off one zombie and had it try to kick me to death. Any game that reminds me of Monty Python can only be good.
rumoured as playable characters for next lot of downloadable content apparently.
steam group clan thing? if not should one be started?
names please if you're keen?
"this shit's gettin old"
Im embarrased now.
(i've set one of these up before in case it doesnt work...)
*i've not done this before...
If the DIS admins object to this, can they let me know and i'll delete it. Never thought to ask.
