Nice place to take my g/f out for dinner in Manchester...
I've only lived here for like 2 months so don't really know any nice places to eat. Don't want it to be particularly formal but don't want to take her to a shithole either...
Don't mind shelling out a bit but nothing toooooo pricey

Restaurant Bar & Grill is brilliant
but probs too expensive.
Hmm, Gaucho Grill or El Rincon are nice, not formal and not too pricey.
Oh, I forgot the BEST place of all. Akbars.
Go to Akbars. Oh man, I want to go there so badly. Definitely affordable and yummy.
I can't 'this' this enough
I like their big swinging naans.
East Z East is good too, but it has a silly name and generally isn't quite as good as Akbars.
Get your big swinging naans out.
Those naans are amazing
:D
If you like meat
Bem brasil is good, and it's also a fixed price menu if you like the idea of certainty of cost. I had an amazing meal at lounge ten on monday night, but it was stupidly expensive- bear it in mind for special treats though. It's the best food i've had in manc yet (and punts ithaca into the number 2 spot now for me).
Do you like Korean food?
Why am I asking, of course you do!

When you say "stupidly expensive"
How much are we talkin'? If you don't mind me asking
CHEERS
El Rincon.
Piccolinos is a nice little chain.
Katsori's on deansgate for good amazing hot sandwiches.
Mmmm, Katsouris is SO good, but it's a lunchtime place
Dinner = lunch in Manc you muppet
(like I read the whole OP)
This is where my inherent poshness causes confusion
Tom or Sam's Chophouse
This website has loads of offers and reviews:

Sam's is lovely
the restaurant at the back is hard to get a table at but it's reasonably priced and has good beers/wines. You can eat in the pub bit too.
Tom's feels more like a Victorian canteen and has less atmosphere but they both do incredible brown onion soup and Boddies and Black Sheep on tap.
The Christmas market starts tomorrow too, which is a few yards away in Albert Sq.
Didn't the markets start last night?
Wednesday,
I had a chorizo barm, it was pure garlic. Brilliant stuff.
Oh did they?
My mistake.
Uh-huh
Piccolino's is good
Vermillion Cinnabar!
There's a nice little secret place on the road up to Piccadilly station,
I think the road's called Station Approach.
Open really late, and attracts some lovely clientele. Cheap too.
Failing that, any of those already suggested, especially Restaurant Bar & Grill and Piccolino's.
Is there still a Spud U Like at the top of Piccadilly?
the Horse & Jockey's alright now.
no longer a chavpub, proper beers on downstairs, restaurant upstairs, fairly priced, pretty quiet.
Failing that, try out one of the Brazilian places, very cheap, but nice, lively, something different. Think they're called Bem Brazil.
Good curry house called Zouk, as well. Not far from the BBC.
I had CHOCOLATE BEER in the H&J last week
I didn't like it once it got done up, thought the atmosphere of the place went a bit awry but it was quite nice the other day when it was belting down outside and it was all cosy. ANd it WAS pretty grim before really.
It had to change, i reckon.
Years ago it used to be a nice pub, but too many nobheads over the last couple of years. Prefer traditional pubs, but think they had to chance the look/mood of the place to keep the local mongs out. They've probably all gone back to the Feathers now, which i believe has reopened.
it has? I thought it had re-opened but since closed down again a few weeks back
I'm sure there's metal shutters on the windows. I've never been in there, I imagine it'll be the same as The Swan in My Summer of Love, the acid scene. There and The Royal Oak kind of give me the heebie jeebies.
have you seen what they've done to The Old Monkey
it looks like a doctors waiting room or something now :(
The Mark Addy for Robert Owen Brown's genius cooking
The Northern Quarter restaurant in the er northern quarter
Luso on Bridge Street.

Red Chilli, in Chinatown
Informal, good value, and chinese people eat there which is always a good sign.
They do an amazing 'poached beef' - tender beef in a big pan with loads of goodies and with an intense and flavoursome sauce/broth which is easily enough for two people - only £7. Couple of portions of rice, and sides, and you've got one incredible and authentic meal.
Also theres a classy Teppanyaki restaurant nearby. You sit at a U shaped table round a hot plate, and a juggling chef comes and cooks your food in front of you. Very informal buzzy atmosphere, but nice environment at the same time.
If you like eating 'authentic' chinese then Red Chili is good (also a small chain)
but don't go expecting Chicken Chow Mein.
There are a few tappenyaki places about and I've always found them expensive and you come out stinking of fried food as you're sat next to the hotplate.
Did you, by any chance, type this out as "Nice place to take my g/f in Manchester..."
and then thought of the comedy responses.
:D
no.
trof
dough
Nah Trof has gone downhill
they give stupidly tiny portions these days.
really?!?!?
fuck. Stuffs changed over the past 8 months :( I want to try the Market restaurant. Looks yummy.
So do I! I've been wanting to go there for ages.
It's meant to be awesome and I love how it looks decidedly unawesome in appearance.
I ate there on it's opening day.
TRUE STORY!!!!!!!11!ONE!
calm down love
Dough
was not very nice when we went. Boring and expensive food. I was expecting it to be amazing too :(
Totally agree in that I make better pizzas at home and they're not as good as pizza express.
So what's the point in going? It's a nice venue, good location, wasn't that pricey (I thought anyway). I had high hopes.
I also bumped into a girl who knew me - she called out my name in the restaurant - but I couldn't recall who she was. Highly embarrasing.
nice and cheap
the cornerhouse. take her to a movie afterwards.
cornerhouse
food n' booze is always good, could always watch a movie if you don't like talking to each other.
maybe take her to the cornerhouse,
possibly treat her to a movie post-eating.
Koreana is dead nice
me and my boyfriend have eaten at tampopo too which is lovely and not too formal
