is it not customary for unsuccesful applicants to receive no word back at all?
I'd say it would depend on how many other applicants there were as to how likely a 'sorry mate' communication would come through.

they tell you that they'll let you know, and if you haven't got it then they don't.
people used to call you...they used to call me anyway.
Bit annoying. I wouldn't mind if they just told you yes or no, then and there.

It's customary for them to tell you how they plan to notify you if you've got the job or not.
and they haven't.
Then at least you can get some feedback into why you didn't get the job.
I had the interview on tuesday afternoon.
I'd leave it a week. But that's mainly down to the fact that I hate talking to people over the phone.
My mym would say "Phone them every day and hassle them".
And now I'm saying it :(
It's likely they will have sorted it out before the weekend.
Leave it at least a week before nudging them though. It's entirely feasible that they've still interviewing people. It's definitely not unuaual to not hear back within a week.
it's for a top 250 company as well, which hopefully means they'll be professional about it.

You should call them up again to get some feedback on why you weren't chosen though. You might feel better if you can rationalise it and also gives you something to work on.
