I know there is probably a dedicated football thread about this, but I'd just like to make this a subject unto itself.
Never before have I felt such genuine disappointment. As an Arsenal supporter, Thierry Henry is a hero of mine, a true club legend. But also as a Republic of Ireland supporter (through family ties, that in the last week have been made all the more strong due to a death in the family), I have never felt so disgusted in my life. I actually can't believe it. In the heat of the moment, I can understand what he did, and why he did it, but his whole career is now tarnished, surely? Or is that just me saying that as an Ireland supporter?
I haven't seen any of his post match interviews or any response to it, but I am completely shocked, and actually genuinely upset. I always had him down as one of the few gents of the game. How wrong I was.
Thierry, you are dead to me.
