International Weekend Football Thread!
England travel to the Middle East to play Brazil! Frank Lampard sustains a thigh injury on the plane! He's unlikely to play again before Christmas! Chelsea will reportedly sue the FA £900,000 as a result!
Ireland play France! The press seem to think they have a chance! I'm bricking it!
Scotland play Wales! 4 people care!
Angel Di Maria is being lined up as a replacement for Robinho! I'm all out of exclamation points!

*FA Vase Weekend.
Internationals can do one. Apart from Ireland/France, which I almost care about.
There weren't enough exclamation points in that post.
In fact, there were none. Get out.
International Weekend.
Who gives a fuck?
People whose national sides are good
And who are still involved in qualifying.
Touche.
i agree with you lo
I hope the FA sues
Manchester United when Wayne Rooney ruptures his spleen in April ruling him out of the World Cup.
Tbf
Using a short-haul aircraft for a flight to Dubai (is it Dubai? Can't remember now) is pretty stupid, especially if the flight is for athletes who are more prone to muscle cramping.
Yeah, agreed...
It's just the whole 'oh no, this happened, let's sue someone' culture really gets up my nose.
I think lines have to be drawn
For me, this seems a pretty obvious instance of corner-cutting and ineptitude on the behalf of the FA, so they'll get what they deserve.
But for injuries that happen on the pitch or in training that there was no reasonable means of anticipating or avoiding, it'd be daft.
I suppose that's true
quite why the FA need to play this match in the Middle East anyway is beyond me. 2018 yadda yadda yadda. I don't know of anyone outside of INGERLAND fans who could give a flying fuck what happens.
I agree with your point though.
It was part of the deal struck
to get Brazil to play at the first match at the new Wembley, wasn't it? I guess it just seemed ages away and not too awkward back when that deal was struck
Oh was it?
I know the Brazilian FA love to go in for these kind of wierdo friendlies.
The FA flew the England players Economy Class to Doha
No wonder so many of them pulled out of the squad.
Typical of the press to pick up on the 'Chelsea sue the FA' thing, isn't it pretty standard that a club claims compensation if their player is injured on England duty?
Are the England and Ireland games on at the same time?
No
England is 5pm, Ireland is 8pm
Thanks, though that is rubbish news
Couldn't give a flying shit about the England game, but won't be near tv for the Ireland one.
Any idea if they'd settled on a broadcaster for the second leg yet?
Chelsea sueing the FA for Fat Fwank's injury is lolsome...
bunch of idiots.
Fingers crossed for a ROI victory over France.
Anyone catch that 'Heroes' match on itv4 yesterday? Basically a mix of ex-players and 'celebs' with a few forces players as well. I have the following thoughts:
Tim Lovejoy: Please fuck off
Anyone from hollyoaks, past or present: likewise
Gazza: Please don't speak, even when prompted via interview. Other than this, you're looking a bit better.
ITV commentary: You know the score...
Why is it LOLsome?
...it's just a bit pathetic IMO...
do they think the england team injured him on purpose? (maybe they did). Maybe it's standard, i dunno, it just smacks of being a big bit wrong...maybe they should demand he never plays for his country...
Think the press have made this a bigger story
by saying Chelsea are sueing the FA.
Like I said this is probably pretty standard and if there weren't already, I'm sure Newcastle's claim over Owen meant there's some sort of procedure in place for this
He didn't get injured palying for his country
He got injured because 'his country' (The FA) acted like cheap-skate, corner-cutting bastards who displayed a complete lack of professionalism in looking after their sportsmen. Big difference, IMO.
Maybe Frank should accept some responsibility?
He knows his body. If you're on a 7 hour flight, you've probably got 6 hours where you could feasibility be walking around etc., thus avoiding cramping. I remember mr motivator released a video on plane exercises to prevent deep vein thrombosis, obviously lampard hadn't seen this.
That last sentence made by snigger
:)
I felt really embarrassed when Gazza was talking
couldn't make head nor tail of what he was saying.
Classy (deflected) finish by Corporal Guy.
I stopped watching when Lovejoy and his bumchums started coming on.
Gazza's interview was just plain bizarre...
i did think he looked a litle bit healthier though...
Absolutely.
He did look in pretty good shape physically.
Hendon v Tooting tomorrow!
It'll be rained off. It had better be rained off. I don't think I can bring myself to watch us concede another 4 goals.
Tonbridge Tuesday. We always concede 4 or 5 there.
In other Hendon news
have you seen these pictures of the Loot stadium (and many others)?
http://www.derelictlondon.com/id48.htm
Egypt v Algeria should be fun
Qualification on the line, both teams hate each other with a passion, Egypt must win by three goals or more, or if they win by two goals the two teams have to play again in a one-off playoff in Sudan on Wednesday.
Nigeria might miss out again on the World Cup. I guess they're not the mid-90s famous side though anymore
Plus...New Zealand v Bahrain!
i predict many football thread cliches in this thread
'MON THE ALL WHITES (racist!)
i was talking to a football loving kiwi last night who has some vague hopes new zealand might qualify. he actually used the phrase "envoke the spirit of wynton rufer".
i really really really hope Egypt - Algeria goes to a one-off playoff. that'll be THE MOST ill-tempered game everrr
no doubt Ireland and Bosnia'll go out and that'll be Bad For Football. (it will, too.)
oh, and remembering that "national service" thread from the other day - if we're reintroducing a kind of compulsary voluntary service thing (compulsary voluntary.), is there a way we can make it so that footballers are allowed to commute theirs to plasying international football, but they're not allowed to pull out of a squad unless the then playing international football becomes compulsary, and if a player gets injured, the clubs aren't entitled to compensation because THE GOVERNMENT SAYS SO, or something? i'd like that.
sigh. oh well, if chelsea must claim £900k compensation, maybe they'll offer it all to grass roots football as a goodwill gesture. i think that would be an honourable thing to do.
Those Kiwis never shut up about Wynton Ruffer
he once finished second top scorer in the Bundesliga, you know (or something).
well when your only other famous players are
Ryan Nelsen, Chris Killen and Danny Hay
you're kind of bound to
well when your only other famous players are
Ryan Nelsen, Chris Killen and Danny Hay
you're kind of bound to
Jeff Campbell.
The best Kiwi footballer of all time.
when your other star players are
Ryan Nelsen, Chris Killen and Danny Hay....well, Wynton Rufer must seem like Pele
oh boy, triple post? THANKS DIS
They'll probably use it to pay for the wages of a player
that they'll still be obliged to pay, despite the FA's ineptitude rendering that player useless for 2 months, evil bastards that they are.
I'd hope they've got insurance for that kind of thing
Horrific corner cutting going on at Stamford Bridge otherwise, particularly given that a certain level of insurance is compulsory anyway.
Of course they do.
But what happens when you claim on your insurance? Exactly. Which is why it's common practice to get whoever is responsible for the claim being necessary in the first place to cover costs of damages. Pretty simple, really.
I love
that Rory bloody Fallon, a player who cant even get into Plymouth Argyle's starting line up, got you guys into the World cup Finals ! Dont get me wwrong, I'm well chuffed you made it. What about a qualifying group involving England, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand ? How fucking great would that be !!!!
4 People care about Wales ? how dare you.
they've sold at least 12 tickets.. Good that the Welsh FA have finally realised playing at an empty millenium stadium isn't really helping us. Lets play at a half empty Cardiff city stadium instead init.
*half empty NEWI Cefn Druids stadium
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRELAND
Ireland Vs France
That comment the french coach made about the 'england b team' obviously pissed everyone in Ireland right off. Hence funny things like this http://irishsoccerinsider.wordpress.com/2009/11/11/french-and-irish-fall-out-over-box-incident/
STOP THIS GOAT MARRYING MADNESS. NOW!
that is fucking incredible
massive actualol
Terry's withdrawn from the squad too
I look forward to Chelsea bankrupting the FA :)
What's wrong with Terrance? Something medium/long term?
It's Friday, ffs.
Friday Football Thread's, please.
Thanks.
^ gutted he can't start the weekend thread
Never do on International weekends.
Mainly because no-one (apart from Brusma) really gives a shit.
^ no class
Nobody has class at the weekends
actually my brother's school did, saturday mornings, man I enjoyed that
Some of us do
The World Cup exists and teams have to qualify for it, like it or not. And teams that aren't England exist.
but England are equally shit and boring.
The whole thing should be scrapped.
Scrap the World Cup
Yes. Yes we should. My eyes have been opened!
It's not really something i terribly enjoy or look forward to nowadays.
Given the choice between seeing a couple of good games out of thirty-odd and England lose on penalties in the quarters, or our club players getting a proper rest, well, it's a no-brainer, really.
There no doubt that the standard of international football is quite low, in terms of entertainment value.
Yup.
Euro 2008 was shit. Really shit. No doubt about it.
^ this so much
I went to England - Belarus a month or so back and it was without doubt my worst football experience ever. Not in terms of the standard, but just the entire atmosphere and feel. I'd rather go and watch Brentford or Leyton Orient.
Would you forsake
the World Cup or European Championship Finals though?
No, I suppose not
I think the issue with international football is the stakes; either there aren't any at all so there's little point in getting excited by it or they're extremely high so few teams really go at it.
It probably doesn't help me that I don't support England and the side I do back rarely qualify for anything.
England's participation
at the World Cup in 2006 was a massive low point to be honest. I enjoyed pretty much every other game. Whether it be watching players and countires that I knew little to nothing about or watching sides like Argentina and Mexico putting on massively entertaining games of football.
That's the same for me (I'm Greek Cypriot)
I still enjoy the tournaments though, more so because there's no stress about supporting anyone
Yeah a dead rubber qualifier
is the best way of assessing these things.
It summed up my broader feelings pretty well
Apologies for not providing a much more in-depth dissection of my musings on the matter
It's like watching a tedious game between two mid-table teams in April
and using it as evidence that the Premiership is crap and a depressing experience all round. England v Belarus was essentially a friendly. it's a world away from, for instance, Italy v Germanya at the last World Cup.
OK to be fair if you don't like international football, fine. But teh constant bitching about international breaks is boring when it's qualifiers involved, they have to be played, the World Cup and Euros aren't going anywhere and plenty of people enjoy them, so stop bitching. I should be aiming that one at the likes of KiK rather than Daniel really...
Thing is though
I've been to mid-table, mid-season clashes that I enjoyed more. I've been to unimportant League 1 games that I enjoyed more. All I'm really saying is that there's a certain buzz I get from club football, no matter which teams are involved, what level they are playing at or what consequences the result might have, that I just don't get from international football. Perhaps it's tautological for me to use England - Belarus as an example because it was always going to be a bit, erm, subdued. But even subdued club fixtures just have a certain something that gets me going.
Of course you can't dismiss international football entirely, and nor should you. I do find it tedious more often than not though.
Much of it for me's down to the hype
England have never justified the build up they're so regularly given, but everything pre-match usually tells me that we're going to win 28-0 against 'Fritz' because of 'The spirit of '66' and suchlike.
There's no way that the end product can live up to the billing it's getting - the same way that "Grand Slam Sunday" between the big 4 often disappoints.
You see
When you're from Cyprus you can never be disappointed. Except when you're 2-0 away to Italy with 10 minutes to go and contrive to lose 3-2!...
hmm no brainer
The excitement and spectacle of a world cup or european championship is what football is all about and cannot be beaten at all.
I disagree.
Bobbins.
I'd rather see Aldershot win the league than England win the World Cup.
sod this weekend
I'm going to watch rugby.
In other news...
Brazil insist they might pick Robinho against England despite Citeh not thinking he's fit enough.
Good news for Axis and all other Brum fans, Seb Larsson wants to sign a new contract after all. Even better news for Axis and all Brum fans, Garry O'Connor is injured.
Inter tried to buy Messi in the summer. Seems like a bit of a waste of fax paper frankly.
Juan Mata has signed a new contract at Valencia, been linked with Chelsea and Liverpool recently I think. Does this mean they have to sell Villa? Has he already agreed a 'mega bucks' deal with United/Chelsea/Liverpool/City/QPR (the real 'Big 4')?
5. fuck off.
this Robinho stuff sums up Brazil's arrogance, really...
and highlights the fact that international teams have far too much power when it comes to people whose wages are paid by someone else. The player's not trained once in eleven weeks, yet they're likely to play him just because we've told them they shouldn't.
It'll be interesting to see if he plays any part, not least because if he does we'll probably just move him on, so it would be the most obvious way for the player to force a move, if indeed that's really what he wants and not just mischief-making by British tabloids.
Whoever the player, though, or club involved, there needs to be a bit of fucking common sense. I guess it has to work both ways, though, if clubs are encouraging their key players to pull out of games when they've no injury at all then it's probably hypocritical for them to moan too much when international clubs also put their foot down.
Bottom line is international friendlies are fucking pointless, and the clubs who play players wages should say when and where they play, and no-one else, not even the player.
'Bottom line is international friendlies are fucking pointless'
I'm not sure I agree with this totally (though certainly a lot are these days), but the England v Brazil one certainly is, just a money-making, 'please vote for us to host 2018' exercise.
Agreed...
I think friendlies in the lead up to major tournaments are useful - those we get every August and February / March against Brazil, Holland or Spain are completely and utterly pointless.
* pay player wages
It's pretty much an unworkable system
You can't give the clubs free reign because nobody would ever play, but there does need to be a better system in place where they have a bit more input. The rules at the moment only serve to exacerbate the arguement by threatening sanctions etc.
Not that it makes it any better, but I'd imagine the demands of the hosts and the sponsors are a lot more to do with their stance than wanting to piss off City.
that is completely unworkable though
would probably breach a lot of employment law.
and as said before, while I don't give a damn about the domestic game really, I do like internationals
I would love to see Villa at QPR
Scoring goals for fun in the championship
Excellent news about Larsson he really is a good player and we'd be a little lost without him.
O'Connor, i like him, he was superb for us at the start of the season occupying the front line whilst everyone else was injured or not even in the country.
Pftt
Initial reporting of the Lampard thing has been blow way out of proportion. Seems he'll onlly definitely miss the Wolves game and he may just about be fit for the Arsenal game in a fortnight. Failing that, he'll be back for the Man City game.
Does anyone reckon England have got a chance against Brazil?
I think it’s gonna be a murdering. Just the same as the Spain game, England will probably play into Brazil’s hands by failing to keep possession in midfield (as usual). Leaving Brazil to just take apart our makeshift defence
Other “big” friendly is Spain v Argentina. Now that really will be a murdering
yes, becasue Lucas will start for Brazil
future World Player of the Year Lucas?
Weymouth FC to be wound up this afternoon
deadlines for buyers've expired and as the club is still making a loss the administrator's obliged to wind them up.
Cudicini to have surgery on wrist and pelvis today...
would appear unlikely he'll play at the top level for while, if ever. Apparently he may also be in breach of his contract by being on that bike, and could also get done for dangerous driving (the latter is probably unlikely). Bad times for CC.
As much as it seems like Cudicini is partly to blame for this
I don't really want to see Redknapp take any discip action against him. No doubt Levy will try and bleed him dry though.
Oh Carlo :(
now i'm on doctor....
but he's 36. his proffestional career is over
on doctor...daaamn
now i'm on doctor....
but he's 36. his proffestional career is over
Liverpool have apparently put a £14million price tag on Lucas
there are no words...
i know, right
even City only pay £12.75m for him on Football Manager 2010
Roy Keane's Bargain Sensor is twitching
'BBC understnds that Mark Cooper is to be the new Peterborough boss'
No idea why they'd sack Ferguson for him but good luck to him, he's been pretty amazing for us. Just hope we get someone sorted before the Leeds game now.
...weren't there rumours that Fergie had already been lined up for a job elsewhere?
hence his departure...?
Barry Fry
claimed that Fergie had been tapped up. Whether that is a legitimate rumour or not isn't for me to judge.
Barry Fry blurted it out when pressed on why he'd gone
implied that it wasn't Peterborough's decision to get shot, rather that there could well be something else behind it. Ferguson very quickly denied it through the LMA.
Can't say it fills me with massive excitement,
but then neither did Ferguson when he was appointed. He seems to have done a good job with your lot, similar to what Fergie has done with us it seems... I juut hope he doesn't bring Andre Boucard with him
My big worry is that this is a Fry appointment, i.e. Cooper will be the public face, but it'll be fry pulling the strings. I imagine it's Fry who put Cooper's name forward. I just wish we could look to some other clubs then the ones with Fry's mates in charge.
As for the Fergie tapping up thing, I can't see it being true, but I think it's fairly conceivable his heart wasn't in it in the same way, because of his name being constantly linked with other clubs. Who knows...
Irish overseas player of the year award time folks!
Yes it's that time of year when all eyes in the footballing world focus on the irish players.
"Birmingham City's Keith Fahey has been nominated for the Irish Overseas Player of the Year Award – adding further weight to calls for the Blues midfielder to be handed an international call-up.
The nomination, made by the Professional Footballers’ Association of Ireland (PFAI), sees Fahey join Manchester City’s Stephen Ireland and Tottenham’s Robbie Keane on the shortlist."
John Kennedy forced to retire at 26.
Really, really sad news.
He was such a promising talent when he broke through into the 1st team.
Probably would have been Celtic captain by now had he not picked up that injury.
I hope Ionel Ganea is utterly ashamed with himself for what he's done to this man's career.
I doubt he's any more ashamed than others who have injured someone badly
and messed up their career
*cough*RoyKeane*Cough*
Bobo Balde on James Wesolowski
Is the worst challange I've seen live - ruined that boys career in a pre season friendly.
yeah... so... Tevez hates football
http://fourfourtwo.com/news/southamerica/42160/default.aspx
* hates international football
i'm sure he's loving playing the Dickov role at the world's greatest football club.
You wouldn't much like playing for your country
when it's managed by 'I make Raymond Domenech look like Fabio Capello' Diego Maradona
Agreed.
His selection process is a bit mental. He drops players who play well, calls up veterans, dropped his own son-in-law because he'd had a row with his daughter. Then there's that press conference.
Saying that, when your manger is doing touchline bellyslides down the touchline some of these things can be ignored. I'd be happy for Fabio to play Jon Parkin and Nick Chadwick upfront for the whole World Cup if he promised to do that, or to call some of our journos cocksuckers.
* too much 'touchline' there.
my 5-a-side teams losing streak continues another week
we absolutely passed them to pieces for most of the game but failed to take our chances (and missed a penalty) and eventually those charva-cloggers broke us down and nicked the points.
you're getting a small insight
into the world of an Arsenal supporter
haven't you already been relegated once?
no we stayed up
because we were a replacement team at the end of last season and only played about 5 games, or something like that.
This season we're just getting tanked for good (apart from the last two games which went right to the wire).
'MON THE ALL WHITES!!!!!
breathe a sigh of relief, guys, Rory Fallon WILL be at the world cup next year
isn't it a bit of joke that they can qualify by beating vanuatu, fiji, bahrain and someone else equally as shit?
whereas someone like ireland or bosnia can fail to qualify?
not a joke at all
and to be honest, i find it really weird that people think that. it's like they've been watching the premier league too long and they can't see passed these daft notions of "best". ridiculous opinion. utterly ridiculous
well yeah, but devils advocating
I find it utterly ridiculous that someone (a neutral) would prefer to watch a world cup with rory fallen and saborio rather than gourcuff, shay given or andrei arshavin. why not just watch the homeless world cup?
well, i'm sorry you feel that way
i'd rather see a world cup in which deon burton could nutmeg zvonimir boban
being seen as "the best", whether you are or not shouldn't guarantee you of anything, and nor should it. if france play shit, i'd rather not watch them in the world cup. if you want spectacle sports of just "the best" then...well...maybe you'd be better watching the harlem globe trotters.
people who dislike international football and those so-called "cinderella" stories confuse me.
ur silly.
you're an idiot
Why are Australia in the Asian qualifying section then? It's not even a fair reflection of Oceania, they should either put Australia back where they should be or merge the whole qualifying process for the two continents. They obviously thought Australia were too good for Oceania so why isn't anyone allowed to think that New Zealand aren't good enough to qualify for the world cup? It would be like taking America, Mexico etc. out of the North American section so that teams like Guatemala had a chance of qualifying (this is just an example, a what if? so don't come back with some "but these countries don't win their games 31-0" crap).
hey frank, i'm not going to discuss this with you because i don't think you're capable of it
so there's no need to respond to any more of my posts. just so you know
arrogant cunt, someone else will have to put you in your place instead then
I find your *desperate to see a lower standard of international football but at least everyone gets a go* overly liberal bullshit to be rather pathetic.
oh frank
you really aren't capable, are you? :(
you can't even understand what i'm saying, can you? :(
just leave it, lad. just leave it
I'm arguing against your whole notion
not what you've written above, sorry if this wasn't clear (which it probably wasn't) but these are general "I don't like brusma's attitude towards international football" posts.
with added personal insults through frustration?
gotcha
yeah, maybe
I'm becoming completely disillusioned with this place and my hangover is making me grumpy. Don't worry about it.
who?
ahahahahaahha what a stupid cunt

papers are saying Brown is likely to start
hmm, as much as used to love him pre-injury, its telling when you have someone who has played five first-team games as a fourth choice centre-back as your right back.
the one thing it's really telling is that not even capello gives a toss about this
Nigeria have qualifed
after they beat Kenya 3-2 and Tunisia lost to Mozambique. Not bad considering they were less than a minute away from elimination last month.

scotland are crap
we should win this 8-0
Marcel Desailly...
Welcome back into mylife. The only thing I enjoy about ITV's coverage.
'Believe on Capello'
does the picture keep breaking up for anyone else
or is there just bad reception in the north?
also, Harper for ING-UH-LAHND
a real international friendly where teams are pushing each other to the limit
whut?
Insert comment about ITV
Cameroon going through
can they just nip down at half time to suck rooney off and get this over with?
Milner has been ING-GER-LANDs best by miles
Brazil should be ahead, if only they'd stop dicking about and actually try shooting
why do people think england have any chance of winning the world cup?
you might a well sign it over to spain now, we're going to wipe the floor with everyone.
USA will walk all over you again
jozy altidore is a walking titan of football
Who struggles to get into Hull's first eleven.
so.. lost to every good team we've come up against
Capello out?
they're trotting out a line about this being a second string side
but really, a team with that starting line-up and players like Crouch, Defore and Young in reserve is not a bad side.
I don't think the 'real' team would've beaten Brazil tonight. For most of the game Brazil seemed content to dick about with the ball and not really press England. On another day they could definitely turn it up a couple of notches and absolutely batter a side like Capello's tonight or just pick apart a side like his A team.
Thing is
when Capello took over, the widespread opinion was "if Capello can't get something out of these players nobody can". So if Capello's no good, what do we do?
finally accept that this isn't a nation of world beaters
I love england's defensive options running up to the world cup
rio, wes brown, john terry, upson, lescott and warnock.
cashley is your best player, and he's a 1 dimensional piece of shit.
the fa should sack capello and hire o'neil. for the lolz.
i've said it before
crouch is the only guy who can save you now.
Gabriel Clarke, stop talking to Capello like he's eight years old
egypt 2 algeria 0
last minute second goal... play off here we come :D that'll be brutal.
Unbelieveable stuff
95th minute goal to make it 2-0, Algeria will be sick to their stomachs for letting this go
OMFG ^ this
they'll end up calling the playoff Kharnage in Khartoum
The result wasn't really too important today, i reckon.
Enough positive for it to not have been a complete waste of time. Lescott was excellent, Milner worked his socks off, SWP did quite well, Jenas did alright in stops and starts, Barry his usual commanding self.
Not overly impressed with Brazil.
* positives
Brazil looked pretty content
Just to tap it around with out really doing very much, could have easily upped the tempo and caused real problems.
Alves had a glorified sense of his own long range shooting tonight,
^this
they could've utterly wrecked England if they felt like it
ten minutes left in the greece - ukraine match, 0 - 0
if you offered me that scoreline at the end of the match, i wouldn't take it. even though theyve outplayed us i just cant see them score, whereas i think we could maybe just nick something.
i think we'll do them 2-0 at home anyway
WE'RE GOING TO THE WORLD CUP (maybe)
Still 0-0
No away goal conceded I guess if it stays like that, but I can't really see Greece even getting a score draw in Ukraine.
hmmm
gonna be really nervey on wednesday. think we should be alright but its a must-win. was hoping for at least an away goal tonight. balls.
anyone got a link for ireland vs france?

No sound for me for some reason tho...

ah classic Henry

LOL.
You've gotta love Chiellini.

Surely you can appreciate a needlessly hard footballer?
Chiellini's like a slightly better Emanuel Pogatetz.
Not that bad a challenge, really, and even if so, the amount RVP cries about it's about time he got a really heavy one.

cant score for toffee so hes started beating up sergi busquets. brilliant.
spain 2 - filthy argies 1

Coloccini starting?
he might be one of the rocks of the championship but do they honestly not have anyone else to wear blue and white?

Wouldn't happen at Manchester City.
Because City don't have legends?
You probably wouldn't understand, but sometimes employers actually want the people they are hiring to do a job.
Bahahahahahaha.
I don't know him.
Was he one half of "legendary" partnership Dickov and Bahahahahahaha? Did he play with Goater? Tiatto?
SPURS FOR 4TH.
Are you saying that Darius Vassell is not a legendary player?
another SCINTILLATING saturday of international football:
Brasil 1 - 0 England
Ireland 0 - 1 France
Aaron Ramsey 3 - 0 Darren Fletcher
New Zealand 1 - 0 Bahrain
those were the games i followed. what a load of absolute shit.
Agreed.
It's fucking embarrassing. You might as well just sleep through weekends like this. International football's completely pointless. Bored with people saying it's the pinacle of football, it isn't, the Premier League is, though even that's got a fair few cloggers in.
I couldn't even stay awake during Brazil/England, and there were four or five of our players involved, same for your lot. Just fucking rubbish. No point. Ireland were so bad i wanted to poke my eyes out.
A shame nobody showed the African games
The Nigeria and Egypt games sounded fantastic.
International football is only good when it actually means something.
Which is why the World Cup will be ace. It doesn't matter if it's not brilliant technically- 'fans' who only care if there are fifteen goals in a game and lots of pretty stuff can fuck off and watch figure skating, or some other gay sport.
Friendlies are useful, but might as well be played behind closed doors. There's certainly little point in televising them live.
i'd rather watch a belgium norway world cup group stage game
than most friendlies
I do like the world cup
but it's once every 4 years for 3 weeks. I'm not sure it's worth all the other innumerable shit qualifiers, friendlies and disruption it causes.
You'd like the World Cup to dispense with qualifiers?
I'd like club and international football to merge.
i'm not arsed to be honest
if you follow brusma's "it doesn't matter who the so called best teams are" theory
you might as well pick 32 names at random out of a hat.
or streamline it to cut down the number of games by getting rid of andorra, san marino, wales et. al.
but personally I don't think I'd miss a world cup that much if it wasn't there. I reckon i maybe watch 4 or 5 games per tournament that arent england matches.
Absolutely.
Take the last Euro's - 6 entertaining games out of 31.
Last World Cup - 4 out of 64.
Pathetic.
Football for chimps.
You really are a fucking moron
Does anything ever please you in football? Aside from pathetic delight when a player on another team is injured
Calm down, dear.
Of course i don't hope the lad's seriously injured, but at the same time, he's a massive dickhead.
van persie out for 3 months

International friendlies can fuck right off, man. sick of this SHITE. what the fuck was chiellini doing with a tackle like that in a FRIENDLY? what a retard
brighton v southampton on sky today
first game with gus poyet in charge.
anyone know of a place that'll show it around north london, considering australia v ireland in the rugby is on the same time. mighty gus poyet
Fans running on and scoring is the new black

racist
apparently rvp could be out for the whole season
a real shame that. i think though, for the first time, Arsenal have enough depth to cope with a couple of star injuries.
Evans could be out for a month for us. Shame that. Glad Vidic looks to be back fit, but it would be nice if we could go more than two games before getting an injury or two in the centre back position. Could be Fletcher and Brown as CBs for our next game..
the tackle on rvp really wasnt that bad
he was just really unlucky. shame for arsenal.
Yeah true
Some people have been going OTT and declaring the end to our season and swearing revenge on Chiellini etc but in the end these things happen. That's the point of a squad, to deal with injuries.

Brighton.
WHAT A FUCKING SIDE! Seriously, they shafted Southampton. Some excellent football first 40 minutes especially. Beautiful, quick, passing stuff, thought it was Man City for a minute, or Barcelona.
I'm delighted to elect them as new members to the kiK Say No To Clogging Actual Premier League.

poyet's the best manager in the football league

Just got back from Qatar
that was up there with the most dire 90 minutes I've seen England put together. Really worried about our chances in the wc if we lose 1 or 2 key players. Great stadium though, all gee'd up there for their 2022 bid, richest country in the world so they can definitely afford it!
The IOC turned down their Olympic bid
Can't see them getting the World Cup just yet (not over USA or Australia anyway)
the USA just had one!
Well they're still bidding!
You think that's bad, Japan and South Korea are bidding too! (albeit separately this time). It'll be Australia most likely in 2022, and a European nation in 2018.
Not really, even if the USA got 2018 that'd be 24 years since their last.
I was talking about this today with a friend. We were wondering why South Korea were wanting to host the 2022 finals by themselves considering they'd 'just had one'. Of course, we then realised that will be 20 years since their 2002 finals with Japan. I watched those finals in school! Jeez.
Panic over everyone
Kettering have appointed Lee Harper as manager. There can't have been many Goalkeeper/Manager's but I'm sure he'll be great.
Burley will quit by the end of the week.
Thank fuck.
Csaba László odds-on favourite to be his replacement.
They'll need Jesus H Christ
to turn things round at this rate.
