ie. html/css editor with a visual interface too?
TheWZA might come by before I've finished my searching,
That said, MTFU and install the amazing free Aptana from http://aptana.com and just do it by hand you complete loser! ;-)
but it's just nice having a visual guide as to what it's looking like....
I just have them all open and do that. After all, surely these visual things don't give you all the browser screw ups? Or maybe they do?
http://kompozer.net/ is the closest I've seen. Although I've never really bothered with WYSIWYG stuff as I've only really done website stuff from scratch either in a text editor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notepad2 or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Notepad%2B%2B) or using a CMS like Silverstripe (or Joomla or Drupal).
But, tbh, if you're wanting WYSIWYG, I'd wonder whether something done with Mr Site, or on Google sites, or some other online site maker specific to your needs wouldn't be more appropriate.
so it's nice to see how it's coming along visually as i write the code.
I usually use notepad++ for web building stuff :)
This is specific to alternatives to Adobe creative suite progs (Photoshop, illustrator etc): http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/say-goodbye-to-adobe-creative-suite/
Take a look at this constantly updated massive list for a mega listing of good the stuff: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=4348352#post4348352
This is a prettier pair of lists that might be helpful to go to first: http://www.bestfreesoftwarelist.com/ / http://www.opensourcewindows.org/
This is a bit more extensive: http://alternativeto.net/
This is another fairly decent list of good alternatives: http://www.osalt.com/
Want a prog that does something more specific? Have a look to see what's available at http://sourceforge.net/ (Or http://download.cnet.com/windows/ has some useful stuff, too).
bookmarked that for future :)
Not used them though, so that's not a recommendation
KompoZer is an open source WYSIWYG HTML editor based on the now-discontinued Nvu editor.
