What blood type are you?
I'm O-negative.
I can give blood to everyone, but I can only take blood from other O-negative people. 7% of people have O-negative blood. Well rare, like.

i don't know, i'm anemic.
same!
I have a horrid little green keyring telling me this.
I swear I will donate blood again soon!
o- too!!!!!!11!!
A-
7% of people have this too. I can have A- blood and the universal blood type, I think, but I can't really remember what that is. I can only give to A- maybe...I forget.

idk
is giving blood easy? i always said i'd do it
I've only done it once before, but I definitely would again.
It's not too difficult, unless you're not keen on needles.
yeah
just go to a session, fill in the health questionnaire, have the anaemia test and provided you weigh enough and don't have anaemia and the questionnaire answers are ok they'll do it there and then...doesn't take long, doesn't hurt and you get free drink and biscuits after. You might feel a bit faint but it passes.
will do
can i just pop in or do i have to make an appointment?
can do either
I think you can make an appointment on their website somewhere. You will be hanging around a bit longer than normal is its your first time
^
all of this. Drink lots and lots of water before you go, it won't take them so long to get the blood.
dunno m8
A+ so my blood donor card tells me
that's roughly 30% of the population so plus the other 7% of O- people i like my chances of a quick tranfusion should that ever have to happen. I've donated a couple of pints of blood in my life, but i can't do it at the moment, because i've been to India
how do you know this?
i've no clue what i am. hopefully something common tho, innit.
You know this
By going to give blood, and them telling you what your blood type is via your donation card they send you. The second time you donate you get a little Keyring thing which tells you aswell.
You get a keyring?
Didn't know that. Second donation here I come!

I'm an O+
Blood donation people keep pestering me to go back and give more, but every time I go I feel more and more squeamish about the whole thing.

I've given blood regularly for a couple of years. i like getting free tunnocks teacakes, om nom nom
^possible vampire, don't tell him.
can vampire have all the blood
or do they have specific tastes or allergies?
I'm also O negative.
I should really give blood. But I just can't. I pass out every time :(
i know people say it doesn't hurt
but does it really? i've been meaning to start giving...
It does if you don't like needles.
Or if you get dizzy easily. Well, it certainly makes the room spin. Even if only a little.
O positive
everyone here should read this book:
http://www.dadamo.com/
I can't say I swear by it but it is fascinating and has been enlightening and beneficial to me and about 25 other people I know who have read it and have been practicing the dietary guidelines of the book for about 20 years.
actually more like 12-13 years
dark red
I haven't given blood for a few months because you have to wait after getting a tatoo (in case you have an AIDS tatoo? I don't get this...)
AB-
^ so indie
even his blood is awkward.

Can be given to unborn babies. The blood service send you a video to blackmail you into giving more of your blood. I really should give more of my blood.
When you give blood
Can you choose which arm they take it from?
It's usually your non-writing arm
Yes
I gave blood and they never told me :(
I'm intrigued
How? Vampires in your sleep?
I bled myself into a bowl and went and threw it at the blood donation woman
screaming unintelligible nonsense and thrashing my arms about.
Haven't heard back from them.
Oh, to be a fly in that room
I'm assuming you had to be told what had happened?
A+
It's the best blood for nerds.
No idea.
I've fainted the last 2 times I had needles jabbed in me. So never again.
i'd worry about people who'd know this.
Yeah
got nothing to do with us being nice people and donating blood.
Admittedly, the main reason I gave blood was to know what blood type I am.
Peculiar.
No curiosity to find out what type you are?
...
Ha!
Is this guy for real?
You worry about the silliest things.
Lighten up.
pureblood

On a similar topic (Organ Donation): http://xkcd.com/659/
Anyone who's already carrying a Donor Card (or has made their donor intentions clear to next of kin) will love it.
Anyone who isn't, for squeamish or theological reasons, needs to take a look. And then MTFU.
I am also O-negative
and I feel SUPER guilty as not donated for ages, but you know those fainting goats? Well I've turned into one, I keep fainting and have been told I'm not allowed to go for a while.
However, they still wrote to me all the time saying how "you've not given blood for a while" and the consequences of this...yeah, I know, way to guilt trip me.
^This
but without the fainting. Which is even lamer.
I'm lamer or you are?
It's you are, right?
Right.
I have no excuses.
Although the first time I did it, I briefly lost my hearing (everything went all tinny/echo-ey as if I was being submerged under water in a noisy swimming pool). Nothing that a sip of orange juice and a nice biscuit couldn't sort out, though.
O positive
Have given 11 times now, so I hope my bronze card gives me priority in a train crash.
A+
apparently used a lot in cancer treatments
