T'other day I was meandering around my kitchen trying to calm my ADHD while my housemates were doing various kitcheny type things, such as playing darts, being racist and inexpertly chopping cheese.
It was during my mocking the latter of these occupations that a conversation ensued, during which I slated the cheese-slicers knife skills, and another housemate defended him by saying that the knife was 'dull'.
A DULL KNIFE? Surely it's blunt, I said! No, sayeth all three of my housemates, armed with evidence from some moody online dictionary, the word is dull.
I have never, in almost 30 years of time, heard the phrase 'a dull knife'.
Am I alone? Are there other phrases that you've heard recently that have been totally knew to you? Let's learn together.
