What do people know of this pub. Good? Bad? Indifferent?
Onions please. Thanks.
Very good. If you like your rock / metal. Proper decent. Anyone who says otherwise is gay. Or a lesbian. Or an r'n'b fan.
Thanks moker. I'm being taken there on Saturday evening by an infrequent/ex DiSer. Good news.
The music is too loud though.
to your onion comment but I didn't.
my good, bad and indifferent quota. Thanks.
It's full of those silly classic rock types..you know..."I LIKE JACK DANIELS AND THE LAST REFUGE FROM MY NERDYNESS COMES IN THE SHAPE OF OUTDATED TOUGH GUY CLOTHES!!11" but they can be fun.
Mean to go back there some time.
they took me i thought it was soso and then i had some ribs and they made me ill so I decided it sucked
loud 80's metal: tick
If you have a thing for tattoos and piercings then you might find the barstaff quite hot. The rest of us just find them annoying and really unhelpful.
Quite decent for watching football though and the Tex Mex food is quite nice.
any football thats on post final score so thats cool. And Tex Mex food will do me nicely.
but on past occasion when Stealthy, chiaroscuro and I managed to pretty much set fire to the table after messing around with the candles, one of the staff came over and – instead of slinging us out – said "Sorry lads, do you mind not setting fire to the table? Thanks."
So they're fine in my book.
when Sparky did the condiment challenge.
actually, maybe that's why he thinks they're useless...
No ale at all. Weird pool tables WITH NO FUCKING LINES OR MARKINGS on them.
I'd hate to be there if it was packed. It must be a fucking nightmare.
but there are probably people who've never seen Holloway Road and don't realise it's like picking the best member of the Royal Family.
They have a great ale selection and are a lot cheaper. Plus, no music.
Fancy a pint in the Herbert Chapman on match day?
It looks way scary to me with its footie partisan-ship.
Whenever I walk into there it looks like a place people go to die. Plus, it's a Wheteherspoons
I went there when it was a cinema (it was shit) and then it became a urine-smelling snooker hall for years.
However, when I finally went in I was pleasantly surprised.
Really like the place, always seems friendly in there.
I like the nachos
devonmalcolm's claim that it is the 'best pub in North London' probably wouldn't stand up in court.
Unless the judge was Tommy Lee
i find it hard to have opinions on pubs beyond a shoulder shrug but i do like big red.
and we'll sell wine by the bag and pints of a mix called a Guntrip Festival Special, consisting of Relentless, cider and vodka in equal measures in a pint glass.
You won't be able to shrug your shoulders about THAT place.
but i appreciate the thought.
What are you? Some kind of weirdo? :D
then started again at the end of september. might quit again now.
appears to be within walking distance of the Northern Line. Gains many points for me on that front.
Check your PM for revised details. Although give me 5 minutes to actually send them.
It has Slayer on the jukebox and Rocky IV on the TV.
Why does the rest of this thread exist?
lots of areas to sit, decent and reasonably price beer and food, pool tables. You can find a hell of a lot worse.
Another nod of approval is most reassuring.
Good Guinness & staff are really nice. I always seem to meet really cool people in there.
but I'm still yet to go despite it looking so fucking rad.
no I meant Boy as in the Roald Dahl book.
but i remember when i was little it used to be a Fatty Arbuckles and the place was awesome, really cheap but you'd get loads of food, you could never finish your plate.
Maybe it was rubbish and my untrained tastebuds couldn't really tell. I dunno.
the ribs are hugeee, the booths are nice.
i have always wondered
just the other side of the islington and city college building and right next to the seventh day advertist church. no idea whats above it, it has the look of halls though, its a weird building.
not trust me?
It's clearly amazing.
Well, it is a little bit I guess. But hey, the overwhelming feeling is a nod of approval. Well done.
the barmaid quite often has her tits hanging out as well.
Thumbs up all round.
never been inside tho... maybe i'll go in there tomorrow or on sunday for Man U v. Chelsea.
