there's something really depressing about it
like it's an allegory for middle aged, marital discontent, where they have minor adventures and just end up back together in a dead end situation, the only minor release from the resentment being the occasional eyebrow raise from Gromit. It's tragic
I actually think the tragic element makes it more appealing.
