Do you remember the first time you ever went on a train? Where did you go from and to? Who were you with? Why were you on the train rather than in a car or whatever? Did anything exciting happen?

My first train ride was from Derby to Wem-ber-lee with my Grandad and sister, for the Anglo-Italian Cup Final. It was ace. Grandad had bought a packed lunch, and it contained egg sandwiches and a flask of tea. It was also the first time I set foot anywhere near London. I loved it so much I didn't come back down again until I was 19...

I spent most of the journey down impersonating the noise of the train and trying not to vomit egg everywhere. I fucking love special train journeys. Even at nearlythirty they still get me a little bit too excited.
