Probably a 'Stuff White People Like' but I'm not bothered. It's possibly my favourite spice. Up there with cumin.
Cumin is a godsend.
But I truly believe that Coriander is the "thinking man's herb". Used well the results can be spellbinding.
i'm with you on cumin. although i like a bit of garam massala meself.
you get sweet paprika and smoked paprika. I've been wasting all these years on the 'sweet' stuff. Smoked is more expensive, but it's about 2892893472 times better.
I stirred some into hummous, it was amazing.
That's all I know about paprika.
Walkers Max very nearly ruined paprika for me.
Not really looked for it. Is it vastly different to 'normal' paprika?
normal paprika and cigarettes.
top, top spice, love it in chilli.
Smoked Paprika is THE DON. Just sprinkle some in your baked beans to make normal beans on toast taste amazing.
Seriously, pimped baked beans in any situation normal baked beans are expected really does just make the whole experience extra amazing. Ideally you want a mix of paprika, pepper and barbeque seasoning.
I spent the rest of the afternoon alternating between being sick and writing out an invoice to Mr Ramsey demanding recompense for four slices of bread, some butter and a tin of baked beans that he'd made me ruin.
Don't be so precious.
He ruined my beans on toast. DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND? RUINED IT.
I hate Gordon Ramsey.
He told me that if I put boiling water into a bowl of shallots and leave them for a few minutes when I drain them the skins will slip right off.
They didn't. He's a liar.
tinned tomatoes, whatever tinned bean I have in the cupboard (kidney or canelini usually), and just stew them together and flavour with wholegrain mustard and Worcestershire Sauce. Mmmm.
(Don't worry Bamos, I have normal baked beans all ready for your visit)
maybe i'll buy some next time i go shopping.
on steak. with a bit of garlic.
also very very good on chicken. tons of it. i love paprika because you can go mad with it and it won't ruin your dinner, unlike things like chilli, too much of which will just make you cry.
Speaking of Eastern European culinary things, does anyone know how to make borscht? I recently discovered that I don't.
but it is fantastic stuff.
