5 days a week and 2 Saturdays in 4 weeks. With no holiday.
If I'm late once I get the boot.
I know all of us dayshifters are essentially taking the piss out of our employers, but you should at least give the impression that you're doing a full day's work.
For the last year I've often worked up to 11pm out of hours for projects.
My manager's manager is using my study leave against me which I made up for but then I had swine flu and she used the hours I missed sick before I could hand in my sick form.
Work to rule then. If they're going to be inflexible, then so should you be.
"So you won't expect me to work on that wiki on family history tonight then"..
manager just laughed nervously and just sighed "well, you like that kind of techy stuff anyway....look good on your record"
and they can't deny me holiday longer over that or something
Is this part of some ongoing disciplinary action (i.e. you've been formally given a previous warning)? I'm assuming there's no union in your workplace? Do other people have to have complete punctuality? Under UCAS guidelines you'd certainly have grounds for appeal I'd suggest if they just sacked you for one lateness! Have you got access to your company's internal handbook and/or disciplinary procedure?
If you are getting shit I can point in the direction of advice/help.
Union said that they haven't got a case but because nothing is in writing they can't do anything
but thinking, NO HOLIDAY until February.
Then again I have FORGOTTEN to take any holiday last year. So maybe it's doable
What are the job & pay like?
