yesterday afternoon myself and my housemate were watching the wigan/city game and generally lazing around when the buzzer for our flat went. we looked at each other a little confused as we werent expecting guests (and dont receive many) but i got up to look at the video entry and see if i wanted to let the person in. when i got there, nobody was on the screen so i believed it was some street urchin pressing the button as he walked along the street so i sat back down and continued cheering on wiggy piggy.
a few moments passed when there was a knock at the door 'who do you reckon that is?' said my housemate. i shrugged and got up to check the peephole before letting the person in. to my amazement it was a paramedic so i immediately let him in.
me: hello, can i help?
paramedic: you called an ambulance?
me: no. (checking my housemate was still on the sofa and not died)
p: i had a call about someone od'ing and suffering a cardiac arrest.
me: not here mate.
he then looked at me suspiciously and we discussed other address possibilities which a hint of urgency and much confusion.
p:its not good when you get delayed and someone is dieing.
me: i can imagine
paramedic then rang someone and the response came over the radio...
me: yeah, this is flat 12, flat 21 is upstairs. do you need a hand taking the stuff up.
p: yes please.
we then scuttled along the hallway (me carrying a resuscitation/ventilator type thing, him carrying lots of other stuff) and through some doors, the paramedic tried to get in the lift, i suggested it might be quicker to go up the one flight of stairs and he agreed. we then ran to flat 21 where the door was open, the smell of fags and other detritust was lingering and people were looking pretty upset. i dropped off the ventilator and went back to my flat and regaled the story to my housemate and continued watching the game.
nb. girl was ok, as i saw her walking into the ambulance with her mate 20 minutes later.
me and my housemate then robbed their flat (knowing they were out and 'good stuff' would be there) and are in the process of planning a hate campaign against the druggies operating out of our block.
that is all. thanks for listening
