i realised that most of my mates do as well as i.
so me, i've got two pairs
go on then, your response
but i have done in the past.
i do like them, but refuse to pay over £20 for them, if i can get them for less than £20, i'm right on it.
They're falling apart now, but I keep wearing them because they're awesome.
I was some Cons made of see through plastiv a couple of weeks ago. Imagine how cool your socks would have to be every day if you had those.
*saw* some Cons.
for a birthday or christmas. i'd wear them.
Red, white and blue.
Oh yeah and get it fucking right up ye for the old firm :)
and it's easy just being able to go into a shoe-shop and know exactly what you're getting without any of that trying stuff on and walking around a bit nonsense. In fact, I buy them from Amazon now so I don't have to talk to any shitty attitude shoe-shop workers at all. Brilliant!
but they're totally bad for my already lame feet, so i don't really wear them.
They're cheap, comfy and Dee Dee Ramone used to have them. Can't argue with that.
Bunch of indie fucks, the lot of 'em.
I'm getting some new friends. Or just hanging out with thewarn a bit more.
take that indie bullshit back
If you were PROPER hardcore you'd be wearing Macbeths like whatserface off of Million Dead. Saw her promoting some of them in, like, Metal Hammer or something once. Pretty sexy.
Was there even a girl in Milliondead?
Short version: I saw someone in some trainers once.
But the speech itself was top notch. They showed a video beforehand of Cameron's achievements and it really made me a convert to the Cameron cause. The tributes to his wife seemed genuine and he almost had to stifle a tear when talking about the death of his son, but he did it in such a way where it didn't seem contrived.
I bought a pair of Dunlop Green Flash trainers a few weeks back, the first pair of non-work shoes I'd bought that weren't Cons for about 5 years. I've worn them twice and they reduced my feet to worryingly profuse bleeding. Thirty quid down the drain. I'll stick with Cons from now on.
I hate high tops though.
I didn't enjoy the foot-raping they exacted upon me
Perhaps you just have tender wee feet DK :)
but the bit where the rubber joins the canvas at the front of the shoe is coming away and it looks like if i wear them any more without some kind of gaffa tape fix my big toe will end up poking through.
i do own a pair of blue suede shoes though.
I have a pair.
have a back pair. They're OK I guess
can you explain it a bit mroe please?
1. They're not particularly comfortable (at least, not compared to the trainers I wear), and are really bad for posture.
2. They make you look like a bit of a bell. I don't get why they haven't gone the same way as checked Vans. The only consolation is that they aren't white plimsols.
Whatever their merits, it does honestly surprise me that they are still popular amongst 'indie' circles. I'd have thought that their ubiquity would have tipped them over into undesirability by now.
Most of them are pretty plain and ungarish.
If I see a twat on the tube, chances are that he is:
a) wearing converse (70%)
b) wearing plimsols (20%)
c) wearing shiny, pointy shoes (10%)
Oh my God, I just had a really harrowing Freud-esque mental image
Does this make me the biggest bell on the planet?
Maybe you should.
also they always appear to fall apart in no time at all
so i'm sticking with The Indestructible King of Shoes
I favour the nike air max sadpunks. Can't wear them to Mars Volta shows, not complex enough.
I love my Converse. As brokenchairs said, they were the favoured footwear of the Ramones and they complete the whole T-Bird look I go for.
It's like "I used to wear Converse, until someone on DiS said they don't like them, so I stopped wearing them".
because it seemed more honest than just saying no.
Anyway, they look good, but they seem really poorly made.
To complete the T-Bird look: leather biker jacket, slicked back hair/quiff, cuffed blue jeans, comb in your pocket, white t-shirt with a pack of cigarettes in the folds of the sleeves.
Although nowadays I mostly wear black jeans and black DMs, and my hair is a bit of a bowl.
and have for a few years now. I currently have a black pair that look a little bit knackered now but they actually look better like this IMO, better than a new pair.
I've always found it difficult to find footwear I like, Converse solved all these problems, now the only things I wear are my Converse or my pair of black "winkle pickers". (This excludes practical sports type footwear like astroturfs/running shoes etc.) All other footwear can GTFO.
Dark brown leather lows (like these: http://tinyurl.com/ygo8h24)
all-white leather lows with red trim (on sale in Gap, only £20)
all-white canvas lows (battered, worn for messing around in)
dark blue lows (worn rarely)
Classic Vans FTW.
Worn them once, maybe twice. They're the most horribly uncomfortable pair of shoes I've ever bought. Never again.
although my mate has a bout 15 pairs..they look terribly bad for my arches.
but used to have a pair of lows and a pair of hi-s to alternate. 'Hi-s'. My favourites - red lows with yellow piping, and a pair of pale pink with red piping.
Also, they are pretty bad for the feet if you don't wear them all the time - took me ages to get used to my new pair. The back of the heels have tiny blood spots all over them.
shops don't seem to sell red converse anymore!
I like them a lot but they fall apart way too easily. Despite this, I want a new pair.
Now I only have one rule when selecting a shoe: that it would look good in a slo-mo close up shot stepping out of a car and stamping out a cigarette.
So roman sandals over white socks. I kid - normally black leather ankle boots look suitably and cinematically fag crushey.
I’ve never even tried a pair on either. If its trainers I just wear plain black Vans, but most of the time I just wear DM’s.
grey plaid ones
and black with a pink rim
i love them.
four. brown one stars, grey hightops, grey graffiti lowrise and blue lowrise. i have had black, red, green, checked, plaid, leather, white, orange... loads.
I bought some cheap cumfy DC's a few weeks back. They're well good...
they're pretty much the comfiest pair of trainers i got.
when they broke in, they were literally molded to my feet
plus, they're only 30 quid
They only become comfortable when your foot has adjusted to them and you’ve got bad posture.
as I find them a bit uncomfortable.
I used to be able two buy them 2/3 pairs at a time back in mancs they were so cheap.
Recently I discovered a bag with these beige ones in my cupboard.
They are very clean and they are a bit small for me but I can just about fit them. Beige ones look weird on me though so it may be a girl's one I may have absentmindedly stolen
that were barely worn.Extra long camo style. I finally appreciate them.
(PS: I have the most beaten up pair ever but I didn't really want to post in here. Can't resist punbait.)
They're pink and flowery, because I always insist on my shoes to look hideous and not go with anything else, and I even did this when I was 13.
USED TO, LOL. CONVERSE R FOR GAYS. LOSERS.
for €8, my other pair fell apart while i was in town.i do plan to get a decent pair of shoes soon.
I currently have four pairs on the go, including some transparent clear plastic ones. Over my whole life I must have had at least twenty pairs. They're lovely.
I have loads of other trainers but I always find that I wear them for a day or two and then just go back to Chucks. Consequently, a pair of trainers last me years and a pair of converse last me months.
They're not great in winter as your feet get pretty cold.
Adidas superstars seem to be my staple trainer at the moment.
Always found them pretty comfy, though I remember thinking they were a bit of a faff to put on when i first got them, what with all the extra lacing etc. Also had a pair of Green Flashes, they were pretty wicked too.
I got some awesome chelsea boots not that long ago - couple of weeks or so. I could wear them all the time, so comfy!
otherwise I would have actually had to make a considered decision about which trainers to buy, and that didn't seem appealing. In fact I tried it last week, despite already owning the Converse, thinking that maybe just one pair of trainers wasn't enough. I spent an hour in Nike Town, looking through all of the trainers they had on offer, trying a few pairs on, before buying nothing at all, so I think my initial conviction was vindicated.
I was always more into my wicked rubeboy trainers, Reebox Classics, K Swiss, Adidas and all that. Fucking boss. BOSS MATE BOSS
In fact I've not owned any other trainers since 2002. Less indie cliche, more lazy shopper, mind. I recently diversified to lo-tops for the first time though, so I guess that's some kind of progress.
I can't be bothered to wear them in when i've got other comfier options. Used to wear them all the time 15-20 years ago, but my big toenails wear through to the outside world. Not a good look.
and I added blue laces and they look nice. I used to have a few more because I went to china where you could get 3 pairs for about £20 (which I did)
anyone who says theyre comfy is a liar or has never worn a decent pair of trainers. its like walking on planks of wood, they offer no warmth or cushion. Walking any distance over a mile ends up in sore feet.
i have a black hi-top leather pair which have little eyelets randomly placed everywhere and i had a pair of plastic transparent ones which have pretty much completely broke now :(
i think they're great but i feel i wear them too much, i need to get myself a decent but sexy pair of shoes/boots before it starts getting really cold i think.
1 pair addidas samba (smart-ish casual, when battered cons won't suffice).
1 pair docs (work).
1 pair chelsea boots (smart).
(+ whatever for yer sports).
Feel free to substitute in any other shell-toe for the Cons, but anything else for gigs/clubs just gets get wrecked and looks gash in no time. Shell toes look better the more battered they get.
Tools for the job innit.
the docs wore out so i just started wearing the chelsea boots to work.
lollerz at tryhards making a point of not wearing them cos some other tryhards do wear them
I'm going to buy a pair. I don't even like them, I don't think...
are you wearing Converse though?
from Amsterdam. i bought them yeaaaars ago, and to be quite frank, I can't actually remember buying them. They are white and yellow ( I know but it somehow works) with purple stars. I haven't seen anyone with the same pair and they are my perfect footwear companions for when i'm walking dogs.
i wrote "their" earlier instead of there. fuck.
There's a pair going cheap on eBay that I want. I shouldn't really, but...
