didn't see that one coming
i'm just in from a night out, a group of girls told me. shocked. seems unreal.
He wasn't very old :(
bye stephen gately
and shocking. :(
"He's a performer with the word 'boy' in his professional title and boys aren't supposed to die. " What a massive bell.
"he started every answer with i remember talking to Paul McCartney / Elton John / Stevie Wonder / Uncle Tom Cobleigh..."
the sheer sight of the man makes my blood boil, he's a waste of oxygen.
quote marks in wrong place.
he was so young, i'm upset.
No Matter What is an epic song :( :(
my uncle asked me if I wanted a present. 'Love me for a reason' was the big hit at the time, so I asked him for a Boyzone cassette tape. However my uncle must have misheard me because he came back with an album by the hair metal band 'Poison'.
that's like the definition of ironic justice.
Are you sure he wasn't just taking the piss?
talent or no talent. I get the feeling the press just wants to know the grisly details like the morbid little bastards that we are.
When did he actually learn how to sing? http://www.bbc.co.uk/totp/artists/b/boyzone/clips/love_me_for_a_reason.shtml
It's the TOTP archive page. It looks like they've just copied the clips over from VHS tapes.
I smell bullshit.
Really sad, though.
I saw him play Joseph in "... and His Technicolour Dreamcoat".
What a bummer.
RIP. Sucks he died so young.
Barrymore threw him one of those specialist parties that he is so fond of. wouldn't be surprised.
alcohol is bad
One of my old teachers went to sleep one night and never woke up, she was 34. No logical reason for it.
Have they simply run out of puff?
I rescind my comments. Showed no class
He was my fav in boyzome when i was young.. it was my first concert, embarassed to say, i took a bag of roses with me each one with tinfoil on the bottom making it pretty, i got that excited i threw one and was a bit gutted they didnt notice and decided throwing the whole bag would be a good idea, i lobbed it up on the stage while they were singing and hit Shane up the side of the face.. haha..
I then noticed that a girl fainted and they took her up the back of the stage, so i thought it was a good idea to 'pretend' to faint, only thing is they dragged me and pulled me out the exit door for fresh air! Fuck sake!!
they happened to go for a swim/spa and ran past us from the pool up to their rooms in dripping wet shorts. We found the room and slipped a note under the door. they never came out, but my mate had a DVD of them and that gig was on it, they were filmed in that hotel room..
hahahaha this is mental, i had forgot most of this until i heard he was dead.. its so so so so so bad that i used to like boyzone. i even made a project about them in school!
please, tell us more.
but it's pretty likely he choked on his own vomit - it's been referred to as a 'straightforward accident' by someone who knows the family. he'd been drinking heavily and fell asleep on a couch. so adult cot-death is unlikely.
that goes for all the other wankers in the thread as well
but you're still a cunt
I'm sure, however terrified they are to admit it, quite a few DiSsers probably enjoyed Boyzone back in the 90s.
Also: fuck all the 'edgy' 'comedy' in this thread.
it really is a shame, when i heard the news first i was pretty drunk and didnt really grasp the tragedy of it.he was very young its pretty frightening.Boyzone would have been all over irish tv and radio when i was growing up, they dominated the charts for quite a while.
Boyzone were incredible shite, I am right in saying, I think, that he came out without any kind of threat of third party outing. I was quite young when he did this and it did cause a stir - people respected him for it and I think it must have done a lot of good for the perception of young gay men in the UK and Ireland. Quite brave considering there must have been a fear his career was on the line.
...I'm afraid. I saw a documentary on which he was talking about it and it was basically "The Sun knows you're gay... either come out yourself or they'll do it for you". Sad stuff for someone so young and someone in a fucking boyband for Christ sake... still, he did it, was respected for it and was still popular after it. Fair play to him.
Doesn't excuse 'New Beginning' though. What a pile of horse that song was...
But still, 33... never was a fan of him or his ilk musically but he seemed like a nice enough chap. Bless him.
He seemed like a nice, if talentless, boy.
Still couldn't help laughing when they showed that clip of their first appearance on 'The Late Show' on breakfast telly today though. It remains one of my favourite tv clips ever
I was on the live phone in on live and kicking and asked them a question.
