Anyone know of any pubs showing it today in North London/Camden area?
say they are streaming it.
Chinese commentary sounds well odd
that is all.
Barry is an important part of England's side, yes. He isn't the most important player though. We would miss Ashley Cole more than Gareth Barry. We would miss Rooney more than Gareth Barry. I think you're overstating Barry's importance somewhat. As I say. Yes he's a very good player - he's not THAT good or THAT vital.
Imagine watching that in a cinema
I wouldn't've watched the tossing thing in the company of 250 average England supporters anyhow.
i know it's only a shit friendly etcetera, but if they play anything like that against decent sides they're fucked. Long balls, long balls, long balls. This was a real test, tough crowd, man down, goal down.. England had about 1 chance in the second half. If this team wins the world cup i'll chop my dick off
it was a world cup qualifier, wasn't it?
World existng outside England shock
i'm being glib innit. This match doesn't matter much to England, so to dismiss them totally on this performance is reductive. They probably weren't playing at 100% because they can live without it. And Ukraine probably were, because it matters far more to them. But the signs really weren't good, especially because this is one of the few actual challenges we've come up against during Capello's reigh. And we failed with flying colours
For one very simple reason: you don't need a perfect team to win a World Cup, look at Italy in 06, people said they were too old and didn't have enough pace in their team.
If you were to give me a £5 free bet (with every side having equal odds) I'd probably go for spain or Brazil but there aren't any other formidable looking teams at the moment, we've certainly got at least an outside chance.
be it Spain or Brazil, or even France, Portugal, Russia etcetera, i think England will be found out. The brand of football just isn't good enough, there isn't the technique within the players to create magic, and when up against the wall they fold. When we were chasing the game there were long balls all over the shop, just prosaic, unimaginative football with no penetration, danger or self belief. And we don't even have a proper defence any more!
Same old England, just with a Capello shaped bow on top
1) It was a meaningless game for England yet it meant something to Ukraine, in fact their hopes of qualifying rested on it.
2) Down to ten men early on away from home against a decent side, it's never going to be easy. How do you expect the players to create much under the circumstances? It severely restricts the posibility for them to play anything approaching attacking football.
3) Before this England had won 8 out of 8 qualifying matches, don't you think it's a bit silly to write them off after one "friendly" match?
based on their record in tournaments. They're in the same category as Holland or Spain pre-2008. And I still don't think they're as good as the Holland 1988 or Spain 2008 teams who bucked those nations' trends
just think they'll have a decent chance.
We don't want the other teams to have figured us out before the World Cup, do we?
I mean it's far more plausible than Maradona being a shit coach surely!
which is unfortunate as he was immense in the 07-08 season, one of the best defenders in the premier league. ferdinand can't go through one game nowadays without a calamity or having to go off holding his back.
also, Gerrard and Lampard in the middle never seems to work. would rather have Barry and Lampard in the middle with Gerrard on the wing, as much as I rate Joe Cole.
furthermore, if you feel like Barry is Englands most important player then why isnt he in your line-up?
And Maradona in two posts.
Not the conversation i was expecting though.
usual poor DiSanalysis. carry on.
