i have to say, i expected more blood.
the worst case of false advertising since The Never-Ending Story
Historically the correlation between a film's title and the content of that film is around 30%.
Trut. Look at Independence Day.
There is blood. It's not like they promised blood every 4 minutes or something.
There Will Be Shouting.
But an absolutely fantastic film nonethless; shits on No Country.
Is there some other reason people tend to keep comparing these two completely different films? Or is it just because they came out at around the same time?
that were unconventional. Also they had some superficial commonalities; lots of arty shots of barren landscapes, periods of silence, both were quite long. It's time for people to get over it though, I enjoyed both of them.
I realise this is completely unrelated
They are not similar in tone or content, and I shouldn't have been suprised by the Academy's foul decision (see: Driving Miss Daisy wins, Do The Right Thing not nominated), but it stil irks me that No Country will go down in history as best picture for that year, when a far superior film was overlooked. But I'll get over it in time.
that is literally the only reason (not counting they came out at similar times) No Country is a more enjoyable watch in my opinion. I loved There Will Be Blood but its bloody hard work at times and really fucking long. At least boogie nights had boobs and doin' it.
the cohens stopped filming No country at one point cos smoke from the big oil-rig explosion in ..blood was billowing onto their set
*There Will Be Milkshake
I liked it. Though I can't remember anything about it save the soundtrack (awesome) and the last five minutes where the guy started yelling about drinking milkshakes. I fucking love milkshakes, so I empathised with him. From that point on, the film held real meaning to me.
I suspect this was key to enjoying the film.
it was a great success
The rest: a man SHOUTING because he's ANGRY. No real SENSE OF THE MAN or ANYONE ELSE other than THIS. Rubbish.
He doesn't do much shouting at all aside from his baptism (when he's forced to) and the ending scene. Unless you're confusing 'Daniel Plainview' with 'Donna Noble'
also the son grows up to be a boring wanker, when he could have done something cool like kill his dad. i dont know. daniel day lewis is fantastic though, i'm also growing quite fond of paul dano although he's creepy as fuck in this film. i just like, thought there would be more direct confrontations and stuff between the two, throughout the film. especially as the background music etc seems to keep building and building the suspense as well
should have won the oscar.
killer soundtrack as well
is well worth the wait though.
Quality not quantity.
I DRINK your MILKSHAKE
