It's a triumph on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Anyone else playing that wants to add me to either PSN or Xbox Live; crablin is my gamertag/username on both.

FIFA looked good and had the proper licences and everything but didn't have the realism or gameplay of pro evo. That changed last year with FIFA 09 and now being the recent owner of a PS3 I'll be picking up the new FIFA.

Any GTA fans on here? Ever had the pure pleasure of a skip fight?

This is really good. A few things

1) its a lot harder to get a clear pass r clear through ball to the players, I've just had 5 or 6 matches on xbox live, all very scrappy.

2) the ref gets in the way a lot more. REF!

But, at the weekend I bought a shiny PS3 Slim and FIFA 2010. A few observations:

1) You have to be insanely timely with your first touch. Either that, or Middlesbrough midfielders all have really leaden feet.

2) through ball is to be seldom used as it knocks the ball WAY in front of the player's run.

3) I'm gradually learning to score a greater variety of goals. Previously, it was custom to pass it to either one of the holy triumvirate (Aliadiere, Lita or Johnson) and run it into the net.

4) it's really difficult to score from outside the box.

One of my problems with FIFA is that it is too realistic, I always like PES because of stuff like the through ball being a good method to score goals. I'd rather sit around with my mates having a few beers with more games being 4-4 than 0-0. Does FIFA 10 remedy that? I've heard words like "scrappy" in this discussion which doesn't bode well. What will I think of it?

... the Pro Evo 2010 demo is causing me genuine consternation, and I'm tempted to convert.

I downloaded the FIFA 2010 one last night (Xbox 360) - it doesn't feel quite as satisfying, but it's certainly an impressive game. The last FIFA I played was, like, World Cup 98 - things done changed.

I just hope the final version of Pro Evo is a significant step up. I do, however, prefer the 'weightier' feel of the ball and the shooting from outside the box. But some things are dead sloppy. Konami, it's time to get your eye back on the ball.

I just started a manager mode on professional difficulty with the mighty Watford. A few things -

1) I can only win away matches. I'm baffled by this.
2) this is the first time i've played on this difficulty. I think I might be getting better. Maybe. Certainly more spacially aware than previously
3) Accumulated fatigue will my the downfall of my team.
4) I cant sign anyone, no one wants to join the 'Orns. twats.
5) Budgeting really isnt my thing.
6) This game makes me shout at my tv.

mostly due to the manager mode bugs.
I've had players magically disappear from my squad without so much as a warning! The 'form' of my players appears to have no logic to it, despite my team being on a good run of 4 wins and a draw in the last 5 games, their form was all on down arrows. Not to mention substituted players don't seem to get a rating, meaning midfielders (who seem to tire the most) always have crap form and are therefore sluggish and rubbish.
Apparently there's 63 bugs in Manager Mode, I haven't experienced all of them but I've seen enough to give manager mode a rest until they patch them. No luck with the gameface feature either, EA's servers seem to be crocked.

Still, my thoughts are the game should never have been released when it was clearly not finished. It's a shame, as it plays a pretty good game of football on the pitch, just the game modes let it down.

... if anyone wants a match on Pro Evo 2009 (for now, not converting) on Xbox Live - I am back in the game.

why cant i score goals from headers?

or goals that dont require running it into the box and finessing it in?

i will plug away but i feel pro 10 will need to be purchased and a period of self flaggelation administered for my wrong doing

what controller settings does everyone use? Do you go for assisted passing and crossing etc or are you hardcore enough to go fully manual?

should I be ashamed that I'm not good enough to use manual passing?

And for sentimentality’s sake I’ll stick with Pro Evo. But when I think about it, over the years, it’s actually FIFA that holds more memories – FIFA 95, 98 etc. Maybe it’s time to change back.

it sounds promising, apparently they've returned to their simulation days and slowed the game down a bit, plus the players look stupidly realistic and the tactics/master league mode seem to have more depth.

I wanted to be Man City (Robinho seems to be one of the best players in the game) but someone had already nabbed them. It seeemed a bit wrong to have 2 man city's so i had to settle for Valencia.

A couple of things annoy me:

The crossing is so unrealistic

Every time you score the players run into the goal like idiots

I'll persevere, but fully intend to get the new Pro Evo.

I think me and Izbo are the only ones to have kicked it off so far, and I'm pretty sure it was a friendly. This will take over a year at this rate!

I had ibzo inviting me to play the other night, but i was playing my brother so couldn't join in.

it's all about PES this year has always been. especially after EA feel it appropriate to rebrand FIFA 07 as 10 on the PC

just got the flukiest win over them in the league. 2-0, pretty terrible goals. he couldn't put any of them away.

I was Croatia, he was Brazil. A pair of PES veterans, struggling to make it in this bright new world. His own goal to level it in normal time was pretty funny. My inability to rinse him with my super 4-4-3 saddened me. Eduardo owns on the left! Its fucking DAFT. I look forward to playing those I added. Was gonna wait to play Crablin but needed to get to bed.

fucking lag every time i play. annoyed about that loss to indieandyjones but it was pretty even. i was just mucking around at the beginning and bringing my keeper out and shooting from 40 yards, then he scored a couple and i realised i hate losing.
