Monday Football Thread

Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-0 in a solid if unspectacular display. First half was sloppy and fairly even but there was only ever going to be one winner in the second. Drogba was immense; he was his usual self as far as suffering very temporary debilitating injuries go but in his defence Liverpool's backline were kicking his ankles at every chance. Essien, Terry, Cole and Hilario (!) all had very strong games, Torres and Gerrard were nowhere to be seen throughout. Why on Earth Riera starts ahead of Benayoun I don't know.

Arsenal beat Blackburn 6-2 with a stunning attacking performance but Blackburn actually looked half-decent and could legitimately feel hard done by by the ref. West Ham's poor start to the season continues but they'll consider their 2-2 draw with Fulham a point gained rather than two lost. Everton and Stoke battled out a 1-1 draw.

City - Villa tonight, I fancy a draw.

Sol Campbell may be able to sign for a club before January after all. Wolves and Villa are being touted as potential destinations.

The England game against Ukraine will not be shown on TV. You'll either have to pay to stream it or go and watch it at your local Odeon cinema!
