I'm thinking this is far far worse than the MPs expenses 'scandal'

  • Ha!

Blair did this too, what were your thoughts on that?

Do you honestly think this is worse than the expenses debacle, or re you just upset because Labour are going to get smashed next year?

    • I do think this is far worse

because there's a case for MPs pay going up (so there would less need/justification for some of the expenses claims).

In this instance, this is a future prime minister conducting private dinners with businessmen, and possibly saying very different things to them about his future plans than his to the rest of the electorate.

      • * he is saying obvs

      • Blair did the same.

What did you think about that? Or do different rules apply when it's TEH TORIEZZZZ?

        • You'll notice in the article that a Labour MP likens it to

the dinners that Tony Blair used to have, and which were stopped, in part because of the fuss the Conservatives kicked up.

        • Additionally, many of the expenses claimed were tantamount to fraud.

There is nothing illegal about this pay as you dine thing. I'm not saying I like it, but big business will always have enhanced access to the powers that be, whether we the electorate like it or not.

        • I'm more concerned about Michael Ashcroft not paying tax

and then bankrolling Conservative candidates in marginal seats.

          • ^ this is much worse

the cameron club is a bit silly but it's not uncommon.
it gives the ear of a potentially very influencial political leader but Blair and Mandy weren't/haven't been much 'cleaner' when it comes to this kind of thing.
