they stopped being funny a good few years ago, didn't they?
And that was generally really warm. Giant squirrels fighting in a park, Santa being literally stuck in a chimney...I want to watch some now.
Punk'd was pretty good as well - but they've inspired an awful lot of terrible programmes
...makes me feel sorry to be Irish
Happy was genuinely inventive. and they had a great soundtrack.
of the music I listen to (by which I mean I got into some of the bands on the OST, which led me to other bands, etc).
it worked because it was so well done. bunnies fucking in lifts and stuff. genius
I enjoyed Fonejacker and adore prank phonecalls like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMArqFvJIro
but I could write a short essay on the reasons it tickles me so much.
The rest of my comedy tastes are miles ahead of most people's. For example, I think Mock The Week is down in the absolute depths of comedy. Seriously lingering with Gimme Gimme Gimme and Will & Grace. Even so, probably 90% of the people I've met think it's the dog's bollocks.
fonejacker series 2: shit
thats occasionally hilarious, cos it goes way beyond common decency, an balls of steel is the same. but they both suffer from having to really piss people off in order to seem relevant or new, since the practical joke form of prank tv went out when trigger finished. its just not very nice to watch BoS's bunny boiler actually almot break up a happy couple, or watch the urban sport of pretending to be a bank robber and screaming at people to get on the fucking floor. Watching Dom Joly dressed as a snail crawling across a pedestrian crossing to echo and the bunnymen, or the ice cream man standing in his own queue with some epic guitar line in the background, that was comedy. The soundtrack MADE trigger happt tv, so perfect it was, so good at making the most trivial pranks look like the most epic of human triumphs.
this new style of programme is just wankers being wankers
