What song will YOU be contributing?
a christmas grime track
a post rock one
Can it start off Post-rock and segue smoothly into Grime?
Father DiSmas' Bulging Sack 2009: Shit Festive Songs From The Internet.
Might write my song this weekend.
It'll be a Merzbow-style effort
already have a song called white noise christmas. it's pretty good.
it's about shitting in the bath, as all their songs are, but at Christmas
"happy christmas sean"
"happy chritmas tom"
*dubs on sleigh bells sound*
it's going to be needlessly belligerent
I approve of this.
NB: I get the slight feeling that some of you lot are mocking. I for one, actually plan to record an actual song. Maybe even an EPs worth. And then I'm going to give it to my mum on Christmas day. That will show you, her and the entire world who's boss. Me.
i'm up for making a Christmassy noise song.
Good. Incidentally, you can't call it A White (Noise) Christmas, because 65 Days of Static already did it. I understand if this means you're not interested in the project anymore.
how about Angry Turd Christmas Time?
You'll have to fight for shit supremacy with Gaz's Brown Christmas. I look forward to this.
late to the party yet again
I have access to a drum machine (never used it before), several guitars, a semi-broken keyboard, and a cowbell. There might be a microphone lying about somewhere, but I'm not sure. I've never written or recorded a song before in my life. The results will be an ode to everything that is magical and annoying about the festive season.
Though I'm losing my limited setup in two weeks, so probably not.
A heartwarming rendition of it, by me. OFC.
certainly not mocking, a postrock/grime crossover sounds like the stuff of dreams to me, want to see if i can make it work. other than christmas is there any deadline?
Aim to be at the mixing stage by December. Then you'll have a couple of weeks to tweak obsessively and dub in excessive amounts of sleighbells over everything. Then we'll whack the lot on one of those Share Your Music sites, fight over who gets the best position on the track list, and maybe even sell a couple of physical copies for charity - in the same way that the last DiS album completely failed to do.
All done just in time for everyone to feel Christmassy.
Bish bash bosh - Christmas album done.
I'll start working post haste
Can we do one? Can it be loud?
(with sleigh bells)
as it is - collaboration anyone?
we don't have a drummer or a singer though...
but my nan can play the spoons
its the festive wes brown song
wonder if I can be bothered to come up with something
...and we're back.
So who's still in? Can I get a roll call?
You broke up Pocus Whiteface!
And I would have gotten away with it too if it hadn't been for those fucking stoner hippies and their big gay dog...
Good. Get to work.
done a few postrock grime experiments so far but findin it quick tricky, it might have to be grime beats with postrock guitars rather than the smooth transition hoped for, just need to get my keyboard fixed for some choice sleighbell effects
because i can't sing or play any instruments. CHRISTMAS!
expect something like this
god rest ye merry gentlemen?
easily the best carol - it's so sinister sounding
I'd like to so I will.
ill make some christmassy minimal tech lush-ness
let me know if there's any requests
its going to be fun
Good stuff, chaps.
This post, aside from being a minor bump, serves as NB: Both covers and originals allowed - just in case anyone thought it was supposed to be one or the other.
And as with the last DiS album instrumental FX pedal work-outs masquerading as Christmas tunes are VERBOTEN - this must be a song actually about Christmas, with lyrics about snow, Trivial Pursuit disputes, being drunk at 10am and everything.
Okay, get to work.
[shrug] I don't know. Can't you just pirate something like all the other teenage bedroom musicians around the world do?
I was talking about doing a Christmas today as well. I'm going to start work right now and I'll record it at a proper studio and have it produced until it bleeds. But if I can't come up with anything, I'll do an arousing cover of Gary Glitter's 'Another Rock n' Roll Christmas'. I'm in. I'm in I'm in I'm in I'm in.
I love it.
My song is gonna rule. It'll have SAXOPHONE and everything on it.
I'm getting James Chance to do the saxophone bit, though!
So... how's it going?
YOU HAVE ONE MONTH. And some change.
It's a cracker, and no mistake.
Okay. Bear in mind that if you don't record anything, I'll just include a track with your name on it but the sound of me making random mong noises for three minutes.
My song is called CHRISTMAS JOOK and it's very self-congratulatory.
I think I'll be in the mood to listen to Christmas music by MONDAY the 14th.
I DEMAND IT SO
