what do girls want a guy to look like, clothes wise?
not that i'm dressing to impress like...just
what do woman want/like a chap to look like, sartorially speaking?
i'm not too fussed with the womens...if the face is good that normally trumps any clothing. as long as it's not wacky* or strikingly demented**, or they look uncomfortable***, their personality will determine the clothes. you can look cool but sound like a dick and you're ruined, obviously.
though i will say that i'd never approach a lass who looked a bit too cool. if she looks like she was in a proto punk/ no wave band or a jean luc godard film, i'll keep well clear. which is tragic really as i'd like nothing more than to charm a girl who looked like she should be in a jean luc godard film.
anyway, i dunno why i'm askin really, i don't expect anything more than
a) more or less what i've said
b) a half ironic request for some specific band/film t-shirt
c) anything as long as they look cleanish
d) anything as long as they look comfortable and it suits them
d) the rugged, scrappy, beardy look (but still not looking like they smell of bins)
thoughts ladies?

disregard
It's been posted below :(
hey
I wasn't joking
I like the goth stars at the bottom of your post.
Kind of like michelin stars, but with more moping.
I like my men to have the 'michael_w' look
SO DREAMY
you should smell these pants kid, that'll put you to bed
Chloroform pants? You, rascal, you.
ironic, because if they're close enough to smell my pants, it's probably already a done deal
but still. it's better if they're woozy. less questions.
'was it always like that or have you had some sort of surg...'
'QUICK, smell my pants'
mantyhose would be nice for bed
but i'd rather have some mankyho's for bed
wearing clothes that suit them, whatever that may be
is my guess
Novel-T's
an unsightly hoodie with KEELE UNIVERSITY in massive letters across the front...
Obviously...
ahaha
we shouldn't laugh....those hoodies are good for filtering out the idiots. imagine if you pulled a lass and it got to the bedroom and she came out wearing nothing but her keele hoodie, thinking it would be sexy like.
wait...would that be sexy? i don't even know what i think anymore. i was at a Q&A by some sexy phd students the other day who've been at keele for years. they'd make it work.
.
I had my first seminar of the year today, approx half of the class were wearing one. I really don't get it...
Much as I like the idea of sexy phd students, I'm sure it'd be offset by how weird keele must make you after all that time...
Fancy that drink next week?
yeah, sounds good
what nights can you do?
.
I'm at gigs on Monday and Wednesday, so Tuesday or Friday? I finish at keele from 5ish on tuesday if you fancy tuesday evening?
yeah tuesday would be good
jug?
sounds good, i haven't been in for ages
I'll have to shoot off a bit earlier than normal, to get the train home. Meet about 6ish?
I'll message ithicas well, he's just started at Keele I think...
sounds like a plan
sorted
Man in a scarf = 10/10
And a red t-shirt, red t-shirts always fare well on any boy.
Other than this I have no idea, I am not really impressed by what someone wears.
red t-shirt, you kidding me?
whas the craic with that? red t-shirts are shit.
I dunno, I just always think people look nice in red
communist
rumbled, dammit
truth

really though, red?
i like grey
grey jumpers, grey t-shirts, grey hoodies, grey coats. great colour for clothes is grey.
I can't help it. I'm with you on the grey, most of my clothes are grey
I'm wearing grey AND red right now, with red nails to show some extra support for team red...

checkered shirts
what about me Scout ?
i'm ginger, i can't wear red at all.
I'm sure you can, try it.
Let's get it straight though, I only like extreme sporadic outings of red clothes. Like my housemate had a red tshirt on the other day and in 18 months it's the first time I've seen him wear it and I said "wow, you look great today" and I realised it was the red.
Then I saw my ex in the Star and Garter and he looked suspiciously less twat like, he was wearing red.
And another ex had to buy a brightly coloured tshirt for this photoshoot thing and he bought red and whenever I see his photos from it I think, hmmm, he looks really nice there.
Sporadic red = hmmm, you look good.
secondary question:
multiple women have told me that you can tell alot about a man from his shoes.
women of DiS: is this true ? are my boring, non trendy, yet perfectly comfy trainers causing me problems ?
I do not pay any mind to a man's shoes
I really don't. I never really understood that whole ghastly, shallow, shoe thing but lots of my friends seem to abide by this rule, weird.
surely it's just the same as clothes
as long as he's not wearing crocks or gola trainers or walking boots...how bad could it be.
red crocs?
possibly
like i said, this isn't me trying to tailor my threads to suit taste
just a general wonderment to see if women view it all differently to men....was a bit of a boring question, admitidly.
don't think anyone really cares as long as the person looks comfortable and their clothes suits them
shirts
look self-aware
but not painfully so.
functional, practical clothes and all that but more on the smart side. i hate trainers.
to be honest i think i just described the way i dress, there's nothing else to it. initially im drawn to people who look similar to me in style because they are approachable. they soon get boring though. so in conclusion - it doesn't matter.
it doesn't much does it. good work people, we've discovered important things tonight.
i will say though, i like a uniform. i don't like being suprised by people's clothing. find soemthing good and stick to it. less diversity the better.
what i wear
I dunno, I always wear suits and stuff and that always gets a pretty good reaction
I hate being dressed 'casually'. Make sure your clothes fit you really well I guess. Most jeans are shit. No hoodies. Wear colours that suit you which means I wear lots of blue t-shirts and red t-shirts. I dunno. Simple ties, nice scarves. Dress like some 60s mod I guess. SHOES ARE REALLY IMPORTANT. I always wear Chelsea boots.
suits are great
but then I like to think I actually am a 60s mod so that definitely works for me.
Sixties mod girls were incredible.
I guess that means you win at life Scout!
likewise drakepress :-)
We should really elope to Southern France or something
hmm, if it's Japan instead then count me in
meet you there?
YES I've always wanted to go to Japan
I'll meet you at Shinjuku station at dusk
Tokyo is awesome and I would give anything to be back there
Wow, drakepress, you really didn't strike me as the sort to SUIT UP! all the time.
I do but not in a douch-ey way. I try and do it in a Peter Cook or early Beatles way
Not saying I wear a full monkey suit the whole time but I usually have on proper trousers and throw on blazers and shit. I'm slender so I look silly if I don't wear something with a nice fit.
I see.
A sort of...day suit (?), as opposed to the business suits you see some men trouping about in. The suit is such uncomfortable clothing for me, but I don't mind a dress suit on the occasions that call for it. I've been told I wear them quite well.
I'm a slender chap too, so I have to wear clothes with a good fit. I like to wear plain trousers (black, grey or charcoal) a lot - they go well with plain black trainers, shoes or DMs and look good with a plain t-shirt or a shirt. Their smart/casual versatility is real handy.
DMs are feckin awesome
Dunno bout 'day' suits exactly, just slim-fit, simple suits you can kinda wear anywhere
the only things i can think of that i really dislike are:
popped collars--i think it makes all guys look like twats
& also really skinny jeans on guys, no thanks.
I saw a beautiful man the other day
wearing skin tight jeans (they looked like tights from a distance), a boxy jacket and patent clumpy heels.
Admittedly, he had a really sexy face (dark eyes, curly hair, possibly mixed race or spanish) BUT his clothes made him look even hotter. I'm totally for the androgynous look.
Otherwise I don't really care how a boy dresses, as long as he's not TOO generic AND proud of it (zomg, I look so cool in this generic checked shirt! I fit in!). Good coat is a must, decent trainers if they must wear trainers (but preferably, they would wear good shoes instead), AND nice hair (no flyaway, Michael Heseltine nonsense and nothing too boring).
Erm, maybe I'm fussier than I thought.
women over 22 want a guy in a black boss suit
otherwise it depends on geographical location, if from london they want as thin and little clothes as possible with v necks and pointy shoes a + (shakes head)
get a bit of lean muscle on you
nice pair of jeans and a well fitted polo shirt, some cons or other smart casual shoe and your away...gadge city
