Please help.

A while ago I foolishly allowed my entire laptops memory to be gutted and wiped. I forgot I had iTunes on there. Thus, it got wiped. No backup, nothing. It is gone.

All the tunes I had on iTunes, are sitting on my iPod. What will happen if I attach the USB lead from my iPod to my laptop. Previously it would have obviously called up iTunes and it would have synced. Now there is no iTunes left what will happen?

I am terrified that somehow all the music I have on my iPod will "wipe".
