the thought deserves a thread of its own.
Do this! Do that! And now do something else!!!
Let's get all the old cunts involved!!!!
Fuck that, skip straight to the happy hardcore and the classic rock.
I'd "this" the above post about a million times.
ideal activity for gatherings of young and old. Embrace the strangeness of it, i did. and look where i am now
you won't be told what to do, you just fucking do it.
Plus you get to swing drunk, strange girls around until they scream and the no-one complains when you stand on their feet.
The last ceilidh i was at, i saw a child dancing with a dog, now tell me that's not amazing.
I was pissing myself laughing the whole time AND i got to swing a pensioner round and round. great stuff
then its called 'fun'
Everyone transforms into a crazy, dog dancing, girl swinging, whisky and cider drinking, fiddle shrieking, foot stomping, adulterous folky whack job at them, and they're just the best!
They're loads of fun! We could get the band to play traditional tunes and ceilidh versions of, like, Melt Banana songs. Which would probably sound terrible, but fuck it!
as performed by the Rusty Relics
I can the old fiddle and wheezy accordion parping out the intro IN MY HEAD!
i'm considering organising a ceilidh for my birthday next spring anyway. wanna come?
i'm going to start organising it soon, and you're all invited! YEAH!
It's my folks' ruby wedding party in a couple of weeks and there is some sort of ceilidh going on. PRACTIX MAKEZ PERFECTZ
I went to the Camden Ceilidh at Cecil Sharp House a while back. It was an excellent night.
you got my back mate
but I'd like to check out the Camden one too. Count me in! +1.
Scotland or bust.
or some other rural place.
don't ask me to organise it!
Edinburgh, mibby, but if I can hire out a farm for a weekend, we can have the ceilidh in the barn.
But bagsy not mucking out the cows.
if only to have Hard'n'Phirm playing their 'Rodeohead' medley - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyzVXFIbSDM
ceilidhs are fucking awesome
I've never felt more indie.
Why did you have to ruin all the fun by calling it "indie"? Why is it "indie"? If anything it's Heilan hick-y/Scottish redneck-y.
does this make me too nerdy for a proper ceilidh? I'm sure it would all come back to me.
Like a professional or something. I expect to see a game face and spinning your partners with such ferocity that caber tossers are impressed.
i like to grasp them by the arm and whirl them as hard as i can till i feel a bit sick. WOO.
a limp grip is the worst trait in a dancing partner
i'll break your wrist
just lessons and exams from age 7-12 in England because my next-door neighbour taught it. I am well up for some ferocious spinning.
