DiS Football 27.09.09 the post-match thread.

marckee [Edit] [Delete] 10:20, 28 September '09

A new thread, just for Royter.

Reds 3 – 1 Blues.

My legs hurt, a lot. I played rubbish.

Both teams were probably more evenly matched than the scoreline might suggest. In the first half we (the Blues) looked solid, but didn’t create many clear-cut opportunities because we didn’t use the wings enough to get behind the Reds. Two cracking goals left the scoreline at 1-1 by half-time. In the second half we seemed to get bogged down in the long-grass down the centre of the pitch, which was like playing in sand. We had the lion’s share of possession in midfield, but were susceptible to long punts over the top. Fortunately, the Reds were pretty adept at wasting the opportunities that arose through this route, but it meant that our back four were worked into the ground. About half way through the second half my legs had gone. The difference in the two teams was probably Will, who was very strong on the ball and could keep running all day. He probably shouldn’t be allowed to play again.

Outside of him, I thought that dan_thw was (perhaps a little surprisingly) really good at the back for the Reds, and for the Blues, meths, Keogh and our goal-scorer (I’ve forgotten his name – apologies if he’s reading) all led the team and put in lots of running.
