absolutely class? or an overrated gimmick? i'm with the former
everyone else does the same? If so I think it's yet another thing designed to make me feel angry, old and confused before my time
*shakes fist at the sky*
has anyone ever forgot what age they are?
I think I'm 23 for some reason, even though I'm only 22. Even though I'm only 21.
"How old are you?"
"Yeah. Oh wait, no, 21. I think? Yeah, 21."
"Oh... I thought you were at least 25."
"Fuck my life."
i got refused alcohol before cos i got confused over whether i was 25 or 24. not my finest hour
you called me Mr in our post. I worry that I'm already a cliched grumpy old man
rather than an age thing.
I don't drive but I did sport a leather jacket in my teens. Granted I looked like an Albanian drug dealer in Kavos who had fallen on hard times
There's usually two DJs so you can choose what you want to do, you can order your drinks at the bar easily and without shouting, if you want a conversation with someone then it's incredibly easy, there's volume control so you don't have to have your eardrums damaged and as there's usually two DJs you won't look mental dancing because people will just assume you're listening to the other channel.
They're the future.
But not amusing enough for me to display my true emotions on my face. I've been looking at them for more than five seconds now. Best push on. Where's the hot dog stand again?" way, but someone listening to their iPod at the bus stop and 'groovin'' to the music is much, much funnier.
quite a bit. But nowhere near as much as this insane girl on the bus who stands up and actually dances, not secret dancing like me, real dancing. I love her.
if I go to a club or gig or anything I want to feel the music and you cant get that from headphones. You can hear all the detail in the music and enjoy it but 1) you cant get the full body experiance of a weighty soundsystem. 2) who wants a wanky DJ which these events bring doing dodgey mixes directly into your ear hole in full detail and effect. The only good thing I can think of is that you can go if you dont like the music and just hang out and chat with people and not care, but then you may as well go down a nice local pub.
can play music much later than they would usually be allowed. Which is a huge benefit.
its still lame though, if I'm going out I'm doing it propely and that doesnt mean putting on earphones. I want a nice soundsystem good music.
One of the best clubs in the world FWD>> closes at 11 as its on a sunday and no one minds. I've never heard of a good club that has headphones... ever... it just doesnt happen you cant get the vibe going everyone feel detached and it sounds lame.
Whereas a lot of us have friends with terrible taste and/or live in a shit area of the country and are therefore faced with shit clubs every time we go out. Silent discos make it a lot more bearable. If I'm in a club which I actually enjoy then I'd rather do without the headphones but sadly it doesn't happen very often.
with nothing much going on, I'm traveling over an hour each way tomorow night to go to a good club with the biggest soundsystem I've ever heard/see so yeah I'm biased towards the enjoying HUGE systemes and dancing like a bastard camp... I'm only off with my sis though as no one else is interested in good bassy insane music heheh. I see what you mean mind, I wouldn't of minded headphones I didn't have to wear at all the student nights I went to years ago, I could have quietly propped up the bar with friends.
and they make perfect sense in that context.
as they can keep it on really late without being constrained with sound regulations + a bit of novlety is always good and people look in at you dancing to silence (which is just as fun) but the actual events, I dont really understand it, it must get a bit meh after 30mins and the cost to go to these things outside of a festival context is huge.
Didn't like it...the key difference to a normal club night was that you couldn't feel the bass or anything, which I find helps the adrenalin, and makes me more inclined to bust some moves. Overrated gimmick as far as I'm concerned.
