Or specifically why is it that (so it appears to me) the vast majority of public school graduates have this sense of self-possession and self-confidence and this sense that they can achieve whatever they want in life and the vast majority of comprehensive school kids seem not to? Is there a way to teach this to comprehensive school kids within the existing state school system?
