and I think the police's lack of concern for such a vunerable family should be investigated. Although I guess it's too late now.
just think of all the batshit people theyve got to deal with, there was one woman on my road as a kid that would ring them if our ball went in her garden.

calling up over nothing and it makes it even more difficult for the police to do their jobs properly.
I feel awful for the family concerned, but their story is being repeated all over the country.
A feckless minority in this country consider themselves to be beyond the reach of the law and more alarmingly often they are.
I don't blame the police, they are burdened down by admin, sanction detections, a target driven culture and careerist senior management who have long forgotten the fundamentals of community policing.
The public don't want police officers to be the uniformed branch of social services, an adjunct of HM Revenue and Customs or surrogate parents to kids whose actual families don't give a fuck about them or anyone else.
I work in 'the industry' and see the result of these sorry situations every day. Above and beyond everything else the police should be there to defend the law abiding majority and keep the scum off the streets.
The police are hardly likely to find them, as Alex quite rightly says.
