On Bat For Lashes...

Near the end of April, I was at work training a young German lad (his name was Daniel - no bull!). At that time I had a radio under my bench tuned to Radio 2 and the song "Daniel" by Bat For Lashes came on.
So I said "They're playing your song, Daniel", he listened for a moment, and asked "Vot is she like?".
I replied "I don't know.... Does it matter?"
Later I decided to find out about this Bat For Lashes, thinking she was probably a "one hit wonder". Well not only did I find out that she is stunningly good looking but also her other songs are excellent as well. I found a video clip of her performing "What's a girl to do?" whilst riding a bike. -Wow.
So I think she should win the Mercury Award, although I think the competition is quite fierce.
Maybe they should choose someone who can give a good live performance.
Thanks Daniel for asking the question, I might not have made the effort to find out otherwise.
Sadly since then, I have been made to remove my radio from under the bench, apparently it poses a danger because it hasn't been PAT tested.
So how do I deal with the boredom?

On Glasvegas...

Glasvegas supported U2 at wembley on August 15th, which is the first time I'd heard or seen them. The crowd seemed well hyped to see them, which i can understand if you're a fan, but i found them dull. Boring, unengaging and even the 'all about the lyrics' ideal doesn't make up for the drumming - which despite being simple, went out of time on several occasions.
I simply cannot understand why they are such a big deal to so many people. Perhaps I'm just not connecting to their songs and that I'm not supposed to like them, but in any case I hope I don't have to sit through another set of theirs while waiting for a much better band.
Well I laughed.
Agree? Disagree?
Anyone actually give a fuck about the Mercury Prize? Thought not. It's all about the Neptune Prize now innit.
I'm bored.
