like some kind of link up with myspace that let you search for bands and their tracks through spotify but not have to wade through the rest of the crap on each myspace.
it'd probably save their bacon.
and they mention on their website that they're developing an uploading platform but i can't imagine it's a priority right now considering how few features the software currently has.
As an aside can someone see if they can start new threads please or if it's just me that can't. Ta
Oh well. No new threads on DiS, ever again.
Genuinely shocked. I had a feeling they might HAVE to after the bad press they've had of late, but still...
So Apple will likely take 30% of the revenue from that. Then Spotify will take another cut I guess. Then the data storage company must take a slice. And also the labels.
So artists are going to make quite literally fuck all from it surely?
£10 a month - worth it? Or will I just continue to buy records I wonder...
don't blame the technology.
What kind of data quotas are bundled into the iPhone contracts in the UK? I'm pretty certain they're better than where I am. But even so, I'd imagine that to make the monthly subscription worthwhile, you'd want to be chewing up at least half a gig's worth, which is twice the quota for my plan.
and people told me it was unlimited.
but the amazing thing is not the streaming but the ability to cache playlists on the iphone and listen to them without using yer 3g...
That sounds funky. The only problem that I can forsee with that is if you're trying to listen on the move and you lose your signal.
LastFM works fine on it with just an E or 3G connection, and the Spotify one suggests it'll store the data in the background for when you go on the underground.
We shall see. I won't partake in it straight away as I still suspect it'll have gone bust within a year, but I'll monitor it's progress...
though that itself also will require "hard drive" space. I got second gen 16GB, and I'm pressed for space just carting around the bare minimum of mp3 files I can live with.
Now, just to confirm, your iPhone plans (not the spotify subscriptions) include unlimited data allowance? Seriously?
i don't even know if there is a usa allowance. you can download movies and that straight to the thing via the wifi, but youtube and last fm can be run over the 3g
Australia is a backward country. No spotify, mingy data plans, and would you believe that SMS cost 25 cents apiece?
not that bad.
except that it costs the networks something like 0.000002 cents per text.
whether this will work for ipod touch as well?
and you can cache whole playlists and stuff?
i'm tempted to get one when the new ones come out now.
