Is Aggers a dirty perve?
The guardian continues in its quest to upset everyone in the country:

He is demanding a public apology from the journalist or he will reveal what Mr Buckley really thinks about the guardian readership!! How exciting!

I thought it was pretty good, a nice juxtaposition between an old fashioned small c conservative and 21st century ladette. She had to explain the term 'wardrobe malfunction' :D

yeah, i heard it, which is what made buckley's piece all the more baffling. like he'd gone into listening to it with a determined plan to get this conclusion out of it. it just completely reminds me of that richard herring thing from a few weeks ago. it's just...why do this?

I listened to the interview and it didn't come across like that at all
He just seemed really pleased that she was into test cricket. The article is pretty out of order.
He seems to have apologised for it though.
I read this article the other day with a sort-of 'Eh?' face on.
I think he's the only person in the world who was intent on taking the whole thing seriously.

I read this piece this morning and was pretty dumbfounded
the interview on Saturday was a lot of fun and they both came across well.
What the fuck has happened to the guardian?
Do all the journalists know they're about to be fired and have just stopped caring?
it does seem that most pieces are written with the formula
well known figure/advert/institution/cereal your accepting and malleable mind has convinced you is decent is actually racist/sexist/homophobic/perverted and its taken my incredible investigative skills to pry open the lies and expose this to you.
Comments beneath the article are pretty forthright;
a couple of ones agreeing before a torrent of responses which essentially tell him to fuck off.
Buckley always comes across pretty well on Football Weekly and Fighting Talk, but this article makes him sound like a bit of a dick.

What is it with the Guardian and these absolutely terrible blogs? There seems to be a new one every day. Are all of the rest of the newspaper blogs this bad? Is everyone only picking up on the negative ones? Do these people make a living out of this?!

My, what a commotion. Before the tone becomes even more shrill I would like to apologise to Jonathan and his family for any offence caused by this article. It was intended to be a skit on Aggers and Tuffers and the cult of celebrity but has obviously not been received in this way. The joke missed. As they so often do in the blogosphere.
That said, it should perhaps be pointed out that at no stage did I describe Jonathan as a pervert. I am unlikely ever to be in a position to comment on Aggers' sexual proclivities and even if I did find myself so placed I wouldn't dream of doing so. The word I used was 'pervy' which to me is a Benny Hill style word rather than one to be taken too seriously.
There is also, it goes without saying, no foundation in my claim that Aggers is jealous of Tuffers. Who could be jealous of Tuffers? This was merely a piece of whimsy based on Jonathan being slightly pompous and huffy when Phil refused to become caught up in the excitement about Lily Allen coming to the TMS box and delivered his wonderful Denis Bergkamp line.
As I have written many times before, TMS is my favourite sports programme and I can't wait for the team, tweets and all, to be broadcasting from South Africa.

The "skit" wasn't received by your readership, Mr. Buckley, because it wasn't there.
The bitterness and inexplicably poor writing was received, however, because it was.
I'm happy with this as an apology but as a retract it's shit! The man is a bellend of the highest order... (What's that, Wing Commander Bellend, Admirable Bellend... not into my ranks I'm afraid).
