So i was on jury duty last week...

Reckoning [Edit] [Delete] 17:05, 24 August '09

It went a little something like this:

Monday pm: Phoned jurors helpline to see whether i'd be required to attend court on the day my citation specified. I wasn't. Told me to call back Tuesday pm.
Tuesday pm: See monday pm although i was required to call back wednesday pm.
Wednesday pm: Told to attend court at 11am on Thursday.
Thursday am: Lie-in, then short walk to court where several pikee-looking scumbags (allegedly) addressed the judge with regards entering pleas/asking for extra time etc. Once this was complete at around midday, the sheriff clerk took a register of the jurors and told us the case we were supposed to be sitting on had been delayed. He advised that we should call the helpline that evening. Left court, watched a bit of cricket, got to work around 2.
Thursday pm: Phoned helpine and was told to attend court at 11am on the Friday.
Friday am: See Thursday am, although at the end of the register, we were told that we were no longer needed. All jurors were then advised on how to complete their expense/wage-loss forms.

In conclusion i reckon a lot of money is wasted within the justice system.
