what's your job?
and do you like it? do you see yourself making a career out of it or is it just a temporary measure til you move on to bigger and better things?
i teach media and film at a sixth form college, only been at it a year but so far so good and have no plans to leave the education business.
I'm an umbrella designer.
Used to be based in Manchester which is the world's epicentre for umbrellas. Currently I'm on secondment with Ferrari working on some special shit. It's all a bit hush-hush and top secret, but if we can ever get this prototype working first time every time, well it just might change the world.
This is basically going to be the Segway 2, but in red, isn't it?
I'm the one that puts the little ships inside the glass bottles
specialist money advisor
helping people deal with debt problems (for the citizens advice bureau).
yeah i enjoy it. some of the clients cause facepalm but most of them are nice to me and grateful for the help.
i'm a project officer
how vague is that? it's good cause i'm getting to take responsibility for more work, and it's more involving than when i started in a very administrative role. just shows where hard work can get you!
still a temp job though. and it's not the area i'm gonna pursue my career in. still. y'know
im unemployed again
its been two weeks and im back to being nocternal. I think ive done a good job of making myself unemployable, I obviously cant cut it in the field I want as its been a year with no luck, and any permanant admin type people probably look at my cv and think i'll be looking for something better (could try and convince them ive given up but thats not the best trait in an employee) im just about ready to get a dog on a string and move into a squat spend the rest of my days at free parties
I step out in front of cars and sue the drivers.
Ham Repairman.
It's quite lucrative.
My friend rents out meat
In the Bristol area. Do you know him?
I'm a promoter/dj
It's great when I have shows that make money, not so much when I don't.
I'm going to be a Job Centre Advisor
Should be fun.
Did I mention that I got a job? Yes? Okay.
I'm Flava Flav's official time-keeper
I'm an umbrella tester
I'm in Maranello, Italy at the moment. My arm really fucking hurts.
You testers have the HARDEST job in the industry.
Serbian Warlord.
More of a lifestyle than a job.
Scissors, paper, stone for who gets the next shot at invading Montenegro?
Why aren't my replies going in the right place?
I prefer plastic bag, sabre or carbine.
Please forgive me, I haven't left the house in ten days.
Huh?
Why not? Are you not allowed to leave the house until you propose?
Broken foot innit.
Have to go to her sister's wedding tomorow though... outdoor debut.
Ouch?!
You didn't do that in the process of getting down on one knee did you?
(You should get a wheelchair - lap it up a bit)
No, stairs in the opticians.
I'd like a wheelchair but I'm going to have to go crutches and booty. It's going to be a nightmare as I won't even be able to get smashed in case I do further damage.
Any possibilty of suing the opticians?
That's bad. I've only been to one wedding sober since I've been old to drink. It was only to the night do but I turned up for the buffet, ate, then left. It was depressing. Everyone was hammered and dancing like spanners. I'm sure you'll have a great time.
Nah, I was getting my ipod out, completely my fault.
I got two weeks off work out of it so that's something. Starting to get cabin fever now though. Managed to bruise my good foot quite badly today in a manic battle with a massive spider.
Sucks to be you.
And there's no Ashes test this week either.
I'm an IT Analyst
I like it I'm OK at it I'm thinking about applying for a job at last.fm. Need to update my CV though as it's way out of date...
Don't do that.
It will slowly suck the life out of you.
I'm a graphic designer/animator/all round creative genius type person.
Yeah, I love it, I am definitely looking to pursue a career in animation of some kind.
librarian
working primarily on the non-fiction/membership/main enquiry floor of the new central library in Newcastle.
It can be frustrating, there are some borrowers who expect the world from us and have no patience for anything, but I think I'm just about the only person out of my friends who genuinely enjoys his work. It's not intentionally a career but I wouldn't feel too bad if I ended up working my way through the system.
I'm a Piping Designer
I design pipework for offshore oil rigs and ting
hey wait what?
who do you work for and where?

HMV Manager...
Never admitted that on here before, but what the hey. Love it.
Touring Merchandiser
Absolutely love it. Takes me all over the place and get to meet a lot of people.
The downside is there is no progression as such as I already work big tours so to progress further in a career I'd have to go office-based and I can't see that happening.
It means I'm earning decent money for now but if I was 50 and earning the same amount it wouldn't seem too good!
Technical Services engineer
for one Rolls-Royce engine type. Looking for a non-engineeringy job though.

but i don't want to do it forever definitely.
I'm a "journalist".
At least, I have an NCTJ in news reporting, but I don't have a job. Doing a fair bit of freelance, but looking for a fulltime gig at a paper somewhere. Ideally want to move into arts journalism, but you have to start doing news, unless you can break in some other crazy way.
printer, occaisional designer
I make sure other people's commercial artwork gets printed properly, and occasionally design in-store graphics for nationwide advertising campaigns. don't want to be doing this more than another year or so.
i'm a receptionist
paying my way through college, you see. i do not plan on taking shit from angry people complaining that we're out of creamer for their coffee for the rest of my life.
