His faux-breakdown (re. waiting to recieve a text) on his new stand-up won me over.
And, as me and michael were saying...he's made the transition between laddish upward-thumbing and stoic middle-aged sense making quite well.
i'm a big fan of his 'bemusement' and his 'i didn't sign up for this'.........and i like to see him laugh.
everyone should've made that gag at least once
well thats something, even if one of them's that godawful Holly woman
cheers pal. you're a warm hearted, fuzzy ole gonk.
He has two jokes.
1. Scottish people are violent/miserly/drunk.
2. "It's like if _______ ______ dressed up as / fell into a blender with / went to the zoo with / kissed / went to a fancy dress party as ____ __________"
GET OFF MY TV.
'it's like......it's like.....it's like....'
i don't think i ever laugh at them....just nod and stroke my beard with a little smile...or high five myself
when it works it's a thing of beauty (dog bounty hunter looking like alan suger dressed up as a gay lion...that actually raised a laugh) but it's starting to feel like equation humor when you notice it so much...
gets a hair ruffle
We really cant say anything, though. 98% of what we post slots into that sub-par Brooker category.
I found him pretty funny on the show - his random answers always make me chuckle.
"Who presented the Nigerian version of Deal or No Deal?"
"Was it DCI Burnside from the Bill?"
I've a real soft spot for Mr. Frank Skinner. He's been away for a few years and I didn't realise how much he's been missed.
*I* don't watch TV. OKAY?
He's some Scottish guy in a programme called Mock The Week, which sounds like a poor man's version of a great Radio 4 show that probably starred funnier yet uglier people. Well that's what Wiki told me.
Is he in fact ubiquitous on TV? Is he some sort Jezza Clarkson?
It's not a pub quiz!
Frankie Boyle is a regular on comedy panel shows a la Mock The Week, HIGNFY etc, yes. I suppose if you don't watch them then you might not be familiar with him. But then he is also a stand-up who's done massive tours and has his face on millions of posters advertising his shows/DVDs. You're just unobservant. You should have gone with Knapp to the glasses shop.
It just didn't seem right.
I really don't remember his face advertising anything. I realise I've heard the name mentioned before but I think I automatically thought people must be talking about Frankie Valli in some weird ironic way.
Do you automatically think when people talk about Sam Mendes they're talking about Sammy Davis Jr? Are all of your thoughts about popstars of the 50s and 60s?
Frank Bruno you say? *inner monologue: Frank Sinatra*
Dean Richards you say? *Dean Martin is a rugby coach now?!*
I have a friend called Frankie but that doesn't cause issues so it must be a 'fame' thing.
That's how come I know I have no idea who he is.
I saw a chance to crack out a 'Let me Google that for you' and I took it.
