Also, Tim Westwood as a drivetime DJ (on 1Xtra). Amusing Twitter comment therein.
Thats me finished with Radio 1 then
music radio's dead anyway. lamacq leaves with his dignity in tact, no?
mind, every time i've listened to his 6music show he's played the dullest, greyest, most bland indie you could imagine. But that's Steve-O for you. Give me George Lamb any day
Also, they should've made Westwood the Radio 1 drivetime DJ, him plus the playlist would be hilarious.. "yo this is the new jam from Scouting For Girls, this is HEEEEAVVVVYYY *dog barking sound effect*"
<turns page of paper>
I bet we wouldnt't have to look to far to find someone from commerical radio running Radio 1 to see why it is going the way it is. .....bland and feed the masses musical drivel. The decisions being made do not seem to be in line with the BBC mandate. I really resent that my licence money goes to this station!
The writing has been on the wall for Steve for some time.
You can just see Fearne Cotton leading the way in spotting new bands - NOT!!!
But fear not- there are a number of new internet based stations emerging who, thank goodness, dont have to put up with crappy management and mediocre, ratings driven decisions. Hey, it just occurred to me, dont we pay for the BBC to make brave musical choices - we pay so they dont have to pander to the advertisers need for ratings, ratings, ratings!
he's still on 6music, playing old kenickie records. <3
