what new computer game is your favourite/looking foward to most?
got Batman Arkham Asylum on PS3 preslae for £22.00...
I'm a bit ambivalent over Left 4 Dead 2 and Blazblue doesn't seem to be coming out in Europe any time soon.
Batman could be fun. I'll be checking the demo out Friday. After that I guess I'm waiting on Crackdown 2 and Lost Planet 2.
At the minute im hooked on xbox live for -
Left 4 Dead
- fallout 3
All time top 5
- Resident evil 2
- Resident evil 4
- Metal Gear solid
- Gears of war 2
I look forward to
- Bioshock 2 (i am nervous it'll be shit)
- CoD Modern Warfare 2
As I'm a Wii owner.
I think Mario Galaxy 2 will be good. Everyone is moaning that it's just more of the same, which I find slightly mental given that it's the first sequel to a title and no doubt it'll improve in a few areas, and also seeing as the whole world gets continually moist at the prospect of shooting some MORE people each year at COD or scoring MORE goals in FIFA.
If the old school Mario game had been online compatible I would have awaited that too, but 4 people playing games in the same room? Rarely happens nowadays alas...
Red Steel 2 genuinely could be awesome. The demo makes it look like the game I hoped No More Heroes might be (eg. you play a Jedi). Which in all fairness, No More Heroes 2 might indeed be yet.
And Sin & Punishment 2 could be great.
Otherwise, I'm awaiting the new game from that guy who did Ico & Shadow of the colossus, as they are probably my two favourite games ever. If it's good, I'll buy a PS3 just to play it...
And quite honestly, what's not to like about more of the same - it's the most fun I've had with a single player game in years.
Otherwise it was tremendous. Gave up on the last 6 purple stars this weekend though after 30 attempts at the one where all the vanishing tiles have got 150 purple coins on. Got them all fine, but no-one mentioned you then have to get back to the start...
My housemate is stuck on that one too.
Looking forward to:
BLOODBOWL (HURRY UP SEPTEMBER)
Left 4 Dead 2
Those Team Fortress 2 updates for xbox, but I'll be in the cold hard ground before they ever appear. Sort it out Valve.
Portal 2 (THIS WILL TAKE YEARS)
He predicts -
HL episode 3
I would like him to be correct.
Ah Counter Strike, with your "fire in the hole!" repeated constantly and calling everyone fags. I've missed that game.
because vanilla TF2 as of itself reaches almost the limit of what the Xbox can do virtual memory wise. They said they're working on ways on clawing memory back, but I imagine they don't find that quite so fun to do as dreaming up new content. Just get it for the PC, it's like 13 quid and worth it just for Badwater Basin, the Huntsman and every nerf the Demo's been given.
(which I'm going to do as soon as I open up the back of my PC to see what the graphics port bit is like). I'm currently running it in super-slow jerky mode, with multi-coloured blocks appearing everywhere. I can really only play as a medic and hide at the back, healing away.
its great fun and only 800 xbox points
o and BF1943, amazing online :D
But seriously, everyone should get Splosion man its so much fun, like sonic crossed with earth worm jim
It was fun for about 4 minutes.
Battlefield is immense.
the puzzels get so huge but you have to think so quick sometimes u dont even know your solving the puzzles until u finnish it, thats how logic games should work in a game of that pace!
I just wish I wasn't such a god awful pilot. Or that the parachute didn't sometimes just not work. Apart from that: great fun.
I quite liked the 'splosion man demo. And I do have 800 points spare. I might be tempted once I give up on my actually-finishing-some-of-my-pile-of-games kick.
Are you on my xbox live? undernames/gamertags confuse me.
I'm Kid Cthulu if not.
I cant fly planes at all, I always crash after a minute or so (which is an improvment) it looks well good bombing people too :(
whats your gamertag unfamiliar?
EVERYTHING'S AN OCEANSIZE SONG.
Add me. I enjoy the following:
- Left 4 Dead
- Battlefield 1943
- CoD 4
- Halo 3
never gunna happen though :(
I like the idea of a crack DiS squad marauding across Iwo Jima though.
I believe it can & will, next time i organise one anyways
We did have one or two succesful games
Assassins Creed 2 looks to have fixed the problems from the first game aswell
because my PC is too weak and there's a lot of shit clogging up the DS
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box should be good.
I really want Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 to be good like the X-Men games that used concept/gameplay not dull and ridiculous like the first Ultimate Alliance.
and Scribblenauts looks like a fun little thing
Plus: online co-op. I'll be at least renting it just for that.
the second X-Men game like this on the PC was (I'd argue) probably the best executed superhero-licence computer game released to do date.
It was fun to play, got the balance of fanboy geekery and accessible story for new comers just right, it looked good, got the tone right and the plot was pretty good too.
The first Ultimate Alliance just felt like it was trying way too hard visit every conceivable character and location in the Marvel Universe it could manage while skipping randomly between saturday morning cartoon japes and trying to generate DRAMA around it's ridiculous plot.
It did have some amazing FMV cutscenes though.
the vids of MUA2 look exactly how you described 1, only even more OTT. It did seem to be executed a little better than the first one, but it's probably gonna be a rental at best though.
Yeah, why not.
there aren't hundreds of great casual action games for the DS and the first one was reasonably entertaining
ODST, Left 4 dead 2 Assassins creed 2 and Modern warfare 2 but not the price. A lot of games like splinter cell conviction, Bioshock 2 seem to have been put back to the new year, probably to boost profits and to get away from MW2.
The saboteur looks great, if you like Battlefield online try getting a copy of Battlefield Bad Company, much better than any COD, bigger, better maps and plenty of vehicles.
Anyone for Left 4 Dead on expert tonight or tomorrow? Also there is a new left 4 dead mission coming in sept.
I've been defending valve since L4D was announced but a fiver for a new mission? That's just out of order.
Tell me more.
It's set between No Mercy and...the second mission I forget the name of. They say it's a more streamlined half hour of gameplay. Whatever that means.
Campaign, versus and survival.
any new achievements to unlock? Because if not they can GTFO.
I still need quite a few. the hunter headshot one is quite tricky, as is the witch with a single shot. Hmph.
Taht witch shits me up
I should imagine there'll be the finish the level/finish the level on expert achievements.
PC users get every TF2/L4D related update free. Don't blame Valve, blame Microsoft
Good point about microsoft though .I'll add it to my list of grievances.
as they never let you pay for the correct amount so you end up with spare and not enough for something else. I'm guessing there will be achievements as they can't add achievements for free DLC only paid for. It's a bit of a rip but still under a fiver for a new mission isn't too bad, fill the gap till 2.
that update is 560 points so u have some points left over to spend on fucking purchasable avatar clothing. hey microsoft, why doesnt your avatar wear my dick
Where did all the interesting ideas go? The innovations? The movement forwards?
I could count the number of games I've seen in the last couple of years on one hand which I've liked the look of:
(Mirrors Edge, No More Heroes, Little Big Planet...that's about it?)
The most interesting thing I've played of late is WipEout HD, and that's basically a tarted up game from 1997.
even the new fumito ueda game looks like its covering pretty similar territory to ico/shadow of the colossus
You play the wind in the dream of a dying flower.
Easily the most beautiful game I've ever played.
There are plenty if interesting games around, you just have to dig a bit, much like with movies, music etc. This is the price we pay for gaming going mainstream I'm afraid.
I mean 'a few' now I think about it.
What format is that on?
It's like 6 quid on the sony version of the marketplace (I played it on a friends console).
It's probably my game of the year thus far. The way your weird floating actions affect the music and simple pleasures like blowing a path through the grass of swirling a long trail of petals around the place...it's just wonderful.
If / when I get a PS3 I'll be sure to remember it
just not many that get above the radar. Braid, Dwarf Fortress, Portal, Audiosurf, Darwinia and Penumbra spring to mind.
If you get tired of the turdfest of current generation eff pee esses, there's plenty of classic old school computer games to be found online. I'm currently playing my way through I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream. I say "playing". I mean "losing a night's sleep after working my way through twenty minutes of unrelenting nightmare fuel".
eg. God of War, Canis Canem Edit, FFXII, Viewtiful Joe, etc.
I'll probably just end up replaying Ico AGAIN sometime soon instead though...
gutted that it doesn't work properly on my laptop :(
They all seem to be sequels though.
Mainly these two:
Left 4 Dead 2
Dead Rising 2
Lost Planet 2
I am currently playing:
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Super Mario Sunshine
Resident Evil 4
Heavy Rain: The Origami Killer
The Last Guardian
Assassin's Creed II
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Max Payne 3
Modern Warfare 2
The first two are the ones that really whet my appetite. It doesn't bother me that they're both PS3 exclusives, I'll happily buy the console if they're any good. And let's face it, how could a spiritual successor to ICO and Shadow Of The Colossus be anything short of magnificient.
But Scribblenauts looks so good!
games which are being released now will be retro in a decade or two, so why don't you just be ahead of the retro crowd and play them now?
Called 'Cursed Mountain'.
A huge open world, set on the top of a mountain. You are a mountaineer, looking for their lost brother. When you get up there, it goes a bit Silent Hill and there's Buddhist monks and ghosts everywhere. Except you only have your ice picks to defend yourself with.
Footage looks good and the sound design / concept art has just got 'something' about it that makes me think it'll be really different...
