Is it just me, or is Avon Barksdale a bit dim?
he's a street thug who has smarts beyond most at that level, but he doesn't seem / want to go beyond that like stringer does. he sticks with what he knows.
boys a soldier
stringer comes across as daft more often for me, when he talks about elastic and inelastic markets in the printshop a couple of hours after coming out of a lecture about it... embarrassing.
Stringer seemed cool and clever at first but he can't understand what's going on or handle the pressure when Avon's incarcerated. Avon makes the big calls right, whereas Stringer fluffs them every time.
that he is educated blah blah...
just condensing the message into a couple of scenes
i'd have to disagree with you on that... there are some other scenes where stringer is shown as insecure with his education or intelligence... some of the chair recognizes in the funeral parlour/downtown beurocrat scenes especially. he fronts up constantly.
to actually script this in
laughs at Stringer for not killing anyone shortly before Bell reveals he had D'Angelo whacked. But surely to make it to the top of the Game he'd have had to have whacked bare pussies and clarts?
I always figured Avon took care of one side of business and Stringer the other.
'Cos sooner or later Stringer would have to make his bones.
Is it once you reach four bank accounts? Or is it more of an attitude thing?
