rest in peace, Sir Bob.
The best English manager of my lifetime by quite some distance. RIP Sir Bobby.
A true legend of the game - i've never cared more about the national side than i did back in 1990 - cheers Bobby.
and unsurprisingly he was very nice.
always seemed like a nice guy.
will be sadly missed.
"Kevin Dyer" - Sir Bobby's name for Kieron Dyer.
"They can't be monks - we don't want them to be monks, we want them to be football players because a monk doesn't play football at this level" RIP
successful everywhere and newcastle will rue the day they sacked him for many years to come.
As a 6 year old, Italia 90 was probably the most exciting thing that could ever have happened, and started a love for sport and specifically football that continues unabated to this day.
Cheers Bobby, you were a legend.
Part of that Peel / Attenborough group who were / are irreplaceable.
A great talisman for the game. A great loss for it too...
this is really really sad. Not just a great manager but a great football personality too and he came across as a genuine good guy. :'(
We got exactly what we deserved for sacking him, too. And yet he still used to come to our games.
Think I'll dig out my old Italia 90 video and give it a spin tonight.
“We didn't underestimate them. They were just a lot better than we thought.”
the interview with Shola Amoebi, where he was asked if Bobby Robson has a nickname for him and he replied "Carl Cort". Also the one where Bobby identified "Izzy Muzzett" as Leicester's biggest threat :')
post-match interviews will never be the same again
that can teach you more about how to live a life than their modesty could ever comprehend.
Enthusiasm, Heart, Belief. Fight. Humour.
RIP Sir Bobby Robson.
He was a proper legend :(
One of the most honourable, genuine and dignified men in football.
I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times - he was humble and funny while also being so passionate about the game.
Are we allowed to say that he was a national treasure? I think we are, because he was.
a great man and one of the last true gentlemen left in football.
Unfair on Amiobi...
