Dissers that flat/house share

TheSoundofBastards [Edit] [Delete] 42 replies 12:26, 29 July '09

From later today I am renting out my spare room to a disser, I've been living by myself for 18 months and I hope this won't be too odd. Might be nice to have someone make me a cup o' tea though..

Are there any other dissers that flat/house share?
And if you were making a sitcom, which dissers would you force to share a living space?

  • i live with two

    that don't really post anymore

i get embarrassed if they ever see me using drownedinsound, i don't know why

we never talk about 'threads' either

it's not anything like 'the monkees'

it's REALLY nice getting cooked for and cooking for other people, as well as getting the occasional cup of tea.

  • Nottingham. Though one of the nice bits, not the ghetto part.

I like the idea of a sitcom with a moral at the end, particularly if presented in musical format.

    • I live in Nottingham

it is alright (no exclamation mark, so slightly downgraded from Bamnam's verdict).

Which 'nice bit', TSOB? I live in Sherwood Rise. I wonder if I can hear the sound of b*stards from my humble abode.

      tomatron @Bamnan | 29 Jul '09, 14:17 | X
      • I live just off (Mick) Hucknall road, Carrington Point to be precise.

Whereabouts on Sherwood Rise are you? My missus lives down the bottom end.

        • Oooooh

          WE ARE CLOSE

          :D

          I'm on Waldeck Road.

I bet I've been behind you in the queue for the self-service machines in Tesco, tutting angrily as you fumble to find the barcode for your jalapeno houmous. EH? EH? Yeah, that's right.

          tomatron @TheSoundofBastards | 29 Jul '09, 14:33 | X
          • If I ever fumble on the self-service machines it's due to some chump placing barcodes on fruit!

Seriously though, I hate that place. £1.09 for a packet of donuts that's 69p in the Tesco in town, madness!

            TheSoundofBastards @tomatron | 29 Jul '09, 14:37 | X
            • :D

              Even worse than that...

              A mango for £1.70?

THIRTY-EIGHT BLOODY PENCE IN LIDL DOWN THE ROAD!

Tesco always manage to reel me in, even though it's probably only about 90 seconds longer to walk in the other direction to Lidl. Swines!

              tomatron @TheSoundofBastards | 29 Jul '09, 14:58 | X
              • Lidl mangoes are probably just balloons filled with pulp though!

Lidl generally ain't too bad though with it's slightly comical european foodstuffs. I'm sure I once saw some cereal with a picture of General Pinochet on it in there once.

                TheSoundofBastards @tomatron | 29 Jul '09, 15:19 | X
                • Nah, the mangoes are gooood

Although I think my housemates are probably unimpressed with me noisily and disgustingly slurping on them while we watch tv :D

I like the big tins of ravioli, occasional awesome beer offers, and bargain sirloin steak :D and multi-vitamin drink reminds me of when I lived in Switzerland and used to have that every morning...

                  tomatron @TheSoundofBastards | 29 Jul '09, 15:26 | X
                  • Multi-vitamins eh?

I could use some of those to ward off scurvy.

I've heard rumours they're trying to build a sainsbury's off Hadyn Road somewhere, that'd be useful. As cheap as ASDA is, getting in and out of the car park can be a nightmare due to the tram.

                    TheSoundofBastards @tomatron | 29 Jul '09, 16:00 | X
                    • We should all meet up in the Gladstone sometime

I'll smuggle in some multi-vitamins, and also it's just round the corner from where I live, so I can pretend to go to the toilet and just RUN HOME and be first to slag everyone else off on here if it's rubbish.

                      YAYYYYyyyyy

                      tomatron @TheSoundofBastards | 29 Jul '09, 16:09 | X
                      • The Gladstone eh?

                        Which one is that?

I think I'm having a housewarming sometime soon though...

                        • It really does rain all the time, it's fucking lame.

When I first moved up here, it rained non stop for a week.
Come up and see Nottingham again, it's ace even though the Adventures of Robin Hood has closed down.

                        • It's on Loscoe Road?

If you turn right out of Lidl then it's just up the road. It has a wee beer garden out back, it's quite small and old-mannish, but it's nice :)

                          tomatron @TheSoundofBastards | 29 Jul '09, 17:34 | X
                          • Sounds like a plan!

Could be time for another Nottino..

Is there some kind of northern Nottingham DiS community that I didn't know about?

                tomatron @sadpunk | 29 Jul '09, 15:22 | X
                • Yep- there's at least 4/5 of us that live within a square mile!

                  TheSoundofBastards @tomatron | 29 Jul '09, 15:29 | X
                  • Lol

                    'square' mile indeed.

                    8-)

                  • Wahey, I'm moving to Forest Fields in a couple of weeks from Lenton.

Graduated from the uni now and settling down to become 'local'.

Nottingham will soon have a DiS community to rival even London. Well. Maybe not London. Leeds.

    • An odd couple rip-off but have it for a block of flats with a couple in each. Focus on one couple a week

      kik and vikram
      dash_and_blast and pocketmouse
      CG and rocknrollmassacre
Theo and the fat Irish troll

    • I'm leaving mine today.

I'm going to miss living with DiSers methinks. Well, I will be living with one, I spose.

Is there still a Bath/Bristol/South West DiS mob? I might have to re-incarnate it....

      • Do you know of a good, cheap, central hotel in Bath?

Really only needs to be clean I suppose.
If you live/d there I suppose you wouldn't.

        Balonz @lemonbrickcombo | 29 Jul '09, 15:53 | X
        • There's a St Christopher's Inn/Belushi's

          in Bath centre.

          http://www.st-christophers.co.uk/bath-hostels/map-to-bath-hostel

          • Cheers but I'm going with my lady so I think hostel would be out of the question.

Although I may be misguided as to what a hostel is - I think of a dorm with a load of bunks or the Village People or sometimes Chris Eubank.

            • I've never stayed in so cannot say

I have frequented the pub downstairs tho - very nice.

There's an Express (Holiday Inn) about a 10-15 walk from the centre. Apart from that I think a lot of the central ones are pretty pricey

                • Cheers, I shall get on this tonight.

Someone at work just recommended the Travelodge smack bang in town. Apparently has £19 a night midweek deals.

                  • oh yeah...my parents stayed there last year *facepalm*

that is rather nice, pretty cheap and a lot more central too.

                    Verbal @Balonz | 29 Jul '09, 16:24 | X
            • here's a link showing hotels in the centre

      • Did you meet her through DiS?

DiS love has taken it's toll on me
She said goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore

LOL I BOILED YOUR RELATIONSHIP DOWN TO A MISQUOTED MAROON 5 CHORUS

        tomatron @commandercool | 29 Jul '09, 16:20 | X
        • I'll have you know my relationship is far more pathetic than any Maroon 5 lyric

umm, I guess we did. I met her 'in real life' whilst knowing of her existence on here but without really having contacted her previously.

    • I don't share with another DiSer (is that what you were asking?),

but I do share with four guys. And we have one spare bedroom, so looking for a sixth flatmate. It'll be busy when they all get back for uni, but right now, it's only really me about.
