It just dawned on me that the T-Shirt I'm wearing is from a gig I attended in 1998
Sweet high up above Lord. Scary shit.
It's a fucking good T-shirt mind that's stood the test of time and pre-Ariel colour washing cycles. Not even a hint of sweaty stains in the armpit regions.
I made a vow to myself that when I turned 30(ish) I'd stop wearing band T-shirts as they look silly on older men who are starting to grow into their beer bellies (unless they're gardening or jogging).
Now that this fated day is nearing, I'm afraid that I can't quite bring myself to do so yet.
When's the acceptable age to say enough is enough? Or is it merely down to not having T-shirts with disgustingly indie slogans on them and still being able to get away with more subtle ones?
As long as you don't have a beer-belly, I think it's acceptable to wear them.
I can still fit into my Offspring 'Smash' t-shirt from 1996.
I might wear it out one night in Shoreditch, bound to be cool, right?
chubbaphobe!
Shut it, Chunk.
I'd wear it when it's time to relax.
;-)
and put your feet up?
Yeah. Glass of wine, your favourite easy chair.
That sort of thing.
ummm...
Well I just realised I can no longer get away with wearing my beloved Zero pumpkins shirts, as I look a tit, but am still partial to most of my others as long as, like you say, they are in good nick
Late 30's is when i think I will start to look a complete fool though!
A friend of mine once said
Buying a t-shirt at a gig is like buying a programme at a football match.
I can't remember what his point was, but I do remember him saying it.
I think his point was:
"I wish I bought more t-shirts at gigs and now to ease my regret I'm going to imply it's a shit idea."
I think it was more to do with
it being more of a momento than something functional. I dunno.
Tell that to my wardrobe
blah blah blah
Pulp t-shirt 1995
blah blah blah
only memorable thing about me
blah blah blah
OH MY GOD ! a beer belly, can you imagine it ! heavens above.
If anyone in my social circle started expanding at the waist I would immediatley drop them, especially if they wore band t-shirts. FRIGHTFUL I TELL YOU.
When I wear my Radiohead Glasto 1997 t-shirt...
...god I feel old. I have a Blur Blur one from the same year. I still have my Supergrass one from 1996. I don't think there are any older band t-shirts I own, however.
i somehow won an eels kids t shirt in 1996
still fits but i look ridiculous
