ive only seen bits of my neighbour totoro. spirited away? any favourites? idk
but yeah, go for Spirited Away.
Princess Mononoke is probably the best of the bunch though.
I would have recommended those two.
But also The Castle of Cagliostro, which is apparently directed by the guy who did all those other films and can only be described as a 'ripping yarn'.
but i also love: Castle in the Sky, Porco Ross, My Neighbour Totoro, Pom Poko, Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke.
i like mononoke and my neighbour totoro. porco ross is an odd one!
In order to cheer up the viewing public afterwards. Must have been pretty crazy in the cinema - watch grim, depressing film, then watch the cutest and nicest film ever bar none. Leave in a state of utter confusion.
Anyway, my favourite is Porco Rosso, closely followed by Howl's Moving Castle and Totoro.
if i love this, itll be on yer consciences that yet another boy is sliding towards full blown indie hood
If it helps - Vic Mackey is the voice of the little girl's dad. The film could have been so different...
That's just lazy.
There are numerous bad dubs. There are also numerous ones that are as good as or better than the original. If a series isn't set in Japan, or with Japanese characters it generally works better to watch it dubbed anyhow. I hate people who dismiss dubs for no adequate reason.
You can't watched a dubbed live-action film.
Watching dubbed anime - especially with voice actors who sound sound like retards (AIIIIIIIIII!!!) is not only big, but clever also.
Seriously, give one reason as to why it is.
With a show like Spirited Away which is very Japanese in nature, I think it makes for a better experience to watch the sub rather than dub, but that has nothing at all to do with 'laziness'. Sigh...
howl moving castle or the new one ponyo by the sea
they don't do bad films. Kiki's delivery service is another awesome one. But pretty much all the ones I've seen are quite silly/childish ones except for only yesterday & grave of the fireflies. But for me because I'd seen Barefoot Gen, which does the surviving/living in WW2 Japan plot amazingly, a few weeks previously it made grave of the fireflies seem tame by comparison.
There's also a Ghibli film about cats which I forget the name of which is very strange but quite good. I think it's Ghibli, anyway.
Dunno why my reply was there though, I meant to post it down the page a bit.
i didnt really get castle in the sky but my neighbour totoro is good. Mononoke is good but not representative of the general ghibli tone though.
Howl's Moving Castle is my favourite though. Nausicaa isn't as good IMO, and Grave of The Fireflies is possibly one of the most depressing films I've ever seen.
well, nothing happens much. But I sit there feeling momentarily annoyed until there something else to do.
and have watched all the films, but absolutely refuse to watch any other anime for no adequately explained reasons. I like Ghibli films. I -love- quite a few of them. But they're pretty varied, so if someone likes most of them then there's going to be other anime they'll like also. And you always get someone with the "don't watch the dubs, dubs are awful and for stupid people" nonsense, which annoys me lots.
