Questions that have probably already been asked: What retard came up with this?
Supplementary: And why?
Fucking Twitter. What does "RT @ <username>" mean? If it means "reply to", that's fucking stupid.
as in repeating something someone else has tweeted
I agree that 'in reply to' would have been much better.
Or even better - NOT having a system where you need to click on a link to find what a comment is referring to.
but when it's a big thread it makes finding the most recent posts a fuck load easier.
That's on dis mobile... which I have to use at work. Makes everything so confusing and has probably been (partly) responsible for making me look a fool.
In big threads it makes it so that clicking on any one post can potentially send you flying to some random part of the conversation. Then you have to go back to where you were reading from. Then invariably someone will @ some other random post from 697 posts back and you start the whole process again.
I find navigating through this sort of thing fairly easy.
Yet crucially, you don't find it easier than just looking at a comment and being able to instantly see WHAT it's referring to, as opposed to who it's referring to.
"it makes finding the most recent posts a fuck load easier."
THE MOST RECENT being the important part. I will use it on a thread where I am already broadly aware of the flow of conversation, thus I can quickly see, say, a little thread of people talking about one branch of the topic in a group at the bottom.
Were one to enter such a thread 'cold' it's clearly fucking stupid.
