At the weekend i went to a Quaker wedding

inside-outside [Edit] [Delete] 17:42, 13 July '09

bizarre! Ceremonies went as such:
Everyone piled into a small undecorated 'chapel' and sat on plastic school chairs in complete silence in a sort of circle of judgement around where the bride and groom would be.
Then in comes the groom, shuffling through the packed chairs in silence, looking unconfortable and sweating, to take his seat in the centre.
20 minutes of silence passed, then the bride made her entrance, in silence, again trying to squeeze through the chairs most ungracefully.
20 minutes of silence and the arrival of the master of ceremonies (aka the vicar/priest normally)
more silence, which was occasionally broken by family members who were 'moved' to speak, generally reading empty but deep sounding words from the quaker bible.
then the 'lucky' couple abruptly stood up and mumbled their vows before sitting back down in silence for another 20 minutes.
then 2 old ladies made a show of shaking hands and it was over.

bullshit wedding.
