as a 19 year old female is this acceptable?
i'm drinking in pubs alone quite a lot at the moment. never approached.
looking quite pretty if i do say so myself. no approachings.
went for a drink with my ex, he left to watch big brother and i stayed for four more solitary pints.
Speak to him again love.
we get the pubs, you get the parks
if you're in the pub on your own you look like your waiting for friends, a boyfriend or business
if we're in the park on our own we look like we're grooming
way o' the world sister
imagine society probably has a much more favourable view of a 19 year old girl drinking alone than a a man of similar age drinking alone.
See also, reading books on a park bench.
texting friends just made it look like id been stood up or something
Why would you do that? I don't understand.
i got a few texts, i replied.
looked around the room awkwardly
And god willing I will, yes I would
I look at your profile and it isn't "sweet, sensitive and interesting", it's "gnnyaaAAArrgh"
I'm still not completely convinced you're not someone I used to know.
on the offchance you are...I said i'm sorry and it's been nearly 5 years...get over it.
is one of my names
at least you're not after revenge
in his tent while he was asleep.
I'm still not 100% sure he isn't coming back to get me for it.
not really even that sorry about it...
I did go out with her after tho. Dunno if that makes it worse or better
not best mates though.
less emo smilies and more of this stuff. thanks.
I probably would have established a few minutes in that it wasn't going to be much cop, finished my pint and moved on. The fact it took you 2 hours and 4 pints doesn't reflect well upon you, I'll be honest.
in a city where i dont have a huge amount of friends, i figured i might as well stay - not much else to do. besides, wrens nest tastes good.
that would actually be really nice.
and watched Croatia tonk England with him. He was really nice. I would love to meet you and see him again. Does the Briton's Arms next Friday sound amicable?
if that doesn't change things - where's the brixton arms?
Briton's Protection. Sorry, just got in from night out. It's on Great Bridgwater Street, quite close to GMEX. It's really nice.
do you want to PM me your number? ill send you a text nearer the time and we'll make proper arrangements :)
ITS THE BRITONS PROTECTION. NOT THE BRITONS ARMS OR THE BRITONS HEAD!!!!! (Can I come? :( )
We will need back up in case either of us is into cutting or something. Or you could be into cutting yourself and that would be even bett- send us a pm if you're serious anyway
I thought this might have been the first case of someone asking someone else out actually ON DiS.
If you're cold, you have coffee. DUUUUUUUUUUH.
7 when I'm thin and the light's good
That's what I usually end up thinking in these situations - "Why am I sticking around when I could be on THE INTERNET?!" Then I go home and cut myself.
having a read whatever....i think my brain would fritz
i can imagine london idiot girls doing it as a schtick...but not a genuine cool, nice girl in the badlands.
it turned out she was waiting for some friends though, and no one approached her either.
To be honest I wouldn't simply because I'd always imagine they'd prefer being alone, that I am stupendously bad at interpretting these kind of situations and chances are they'd be grieving the death of a loved one or something similar.
maybe if we shared a glance and it was a natural thing like you'd get talking to anyone in the pub....
but just the sight of a girl setting out on her own to the pub to have a drink and a read would be enough
But three separate female DiSers have said they've done it. Still don't believe it.
I have had a solitary pint with the crossword on fine Wednesday afternoons twice. Felt intensely uncomfortable, as if the bartenders and maids were watching and judging me unfavourably. Don't recommend it.
back to the kitchen with ye
so I can't see much of a problem, I even managed to make lots of new friends by doing so. A few of them were goths mind, and the others liked playing jazz keyboards over my DJ sets but that was alright after a while...
After working behind a bar, it's pretty common place for anyone of any age/gender to drink a a pub alone. Why the fuck not? I don't get the social stigmata behind it. Apart from being a MASSIVE LONER of course ;)
I'd only really been in a pub a couple of times on my own before I worked in one, and usually it was because I was waiting on someone, but now I do iot fairly often. Depending on where you go, you usually end up talking to someone anyway, just sit at the bar. And if you get fed up with them, you can just leave, you don't have to make up an excuse like you do with friends, ha ha.
I don't have much choice. I don't see it as any different than going for a coffee. I might go do this now actually, I'll take my hipster bike.
I can't have friends; I am so dour.
i think it's solopub o'clock
How dare you sit in a pub alone!?
It is, though. Done it during the day, don't think I'd do it at night. Well, I've done it in during an evening when I've been to see a band, but that doesn't count.
Felt so stupid and embarrassed.
