NOT SUE BARKER.
This dog thing should have done all of the commentary and analysis instead of Tracey Austin. Much better.
easily the world's coolest German.
and unlikely to be broken, but you just knew Fed was going to win that tiebreak. Horribly predictable.
That SOOBAKA video is unexpectedly funny :D
better than a permanent marker" hahaha
he gets shit in the interviews and he gives it back. But I hope he loses today.
I love his serve.
the balls are pressurised to keep them all regular and consistent. after seven games (or is it 9?) they'll start to very slightly deteriorate - deflate basically. They're still fine for anyone other than the top players to use so all the used balls are given out to tennis clubs or sold in the gift shop.
Murray needs to dictate the play more.
And it turns out that I'm supporting roddick
If he gets through this semi I suppose the advantage is that Federer will keep him alert from the very first point.
I'm fairly sure I'm not the first one to post this, but... the difference between '1' and 'l' - are the BBC stupid or something? When a player has no points, the display should say '0' FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
Even more so when I realised that Sue Barker sounds like Chewbacca.
more like a posh wendy richards if you ask me.
It sounded like he was going round asking 'Have you seen Chewbacca?'
for the 9th time today.
another 5 setter.
Roddick's playing really really well.
not the same listening to 5 live.
I'd still fancy Murray to pull it out but if he gets through he has no chance against Fed unless he raises his game massively and the crowd/pressure gets to Roger.
Crap pushy forehands, 90mph second serves, totally letting Roddick take it to him. Roddick is playing excellently, can't believe he is outdoing Murray from the baseline, but Fed would pounce on those shit second serves even more.
"Ace him Andy!!"
Starting to topple Garry Richardson in the "most odious helmet involved in Wimbledon coverage" competition.
Tim Henman - LOL!
Murray oot good enough today, and realistically not good enough throughout the 2 weeks when you look at his struggles against wrarinka nd Fererro. If he gets his head together he still has a chance at the US Open, could possibly even end up with a Murray Roddick final there.
There's always next year, but Murray's not going to have many years in his career where Nadal won't be there as favourite, even (if)after Federer retires.
Murray isn't a grass court player, the US and Australian Opens suit his game much better, and there isn't the pressure or moronic supporters to contend with.
His game on grass is too passive. He wins points by keeping the ball in play and waiting for his opponent to make a mistake. Against a player of Federer or Nadal's ability you have to be able to 'force' a point and change it, shifting a gear or pulling an angle. I'd still back him to win the US open this year though.
definite win for Venus then? 2-1?
Serena to win
put £50 on Serena to win that first set when Venus was faltering at 5-5. Easiest 50 quid i ever made
3-3 in the fifth. I still think that Federer will win, but it's good to see Roddick pushing him all the way.
roddick has been fucking good
cant see him going to win though
i reckon federer will break him just at the last minute
4 -4 now though!!
squeaky bum time...
it makes me really wish I had hd tv, to see the intricate detailing on those hands.
I'd rather have won 3 of the last 4 majors and be number 2...
I thought it was pretty cute.
Little twirl of the racket, pow! Look at the curve on that.
COME ON STIFLER
been wanting to say that for the last 2 weeks!! worried that no-one would agree! roddicks not quite as cool...unless he wins...
(as they used to say in Terrahawks)
I seem to recall hearing this was possible a few years ago during an interminable Todd Martin match.
Both deserve to win it.
just wanted it done with.
and why is Gavin Rossdale in the Federer family stand bit?
Stifler looks like he's going to cry.
what a game. I feel so bad for A-Rod, must be pretty brutal losing a final after not being broken in your first 35-odd service games. He looked a broken man at the end.
Well done Federer though I guess. Extraordinary fitness and focus to be playing shots like that after 4 and a half hours.
wish i was by a computer at the time though, cos i would've put the farm on Fed winning. When it got to the final showdown there was only one person who looked like breaking serve and it certainly wasn't Roddick
Shame for him really. This was the best chance he's had of beating him in years, Fed being way below par. But Rod couldn't quite make it.. what price not going 2 sets up, eh? I hated Roddick before this tournament, saw him as a skilless power player, but he's looked like something else. Obviously it's still all about the serve, but the guy has developed a bit of finesse. And his wife is boomting
that was really dull. Reminded me of the bad old days, big hitters winning every service game, whoever blinks first loses. Rafa v Roger next time plz...
As for the result, Fed "deserved" the win in a limited sense, since he was holding comfortably and pushing Roddick on his serve for the last few games. But Roddick basically made no mistakes in the whole match other than gifting Fed the second set. I was properly gutted for him at the end, what more could he have done? It sucks when who bottles the big points is the only difference in a match like that.
On the plus side, British Number One Andy Murray can be glad he didn't make it through; either of these guys would have crushed him today.
I'm really disapointed for Roddick. I think this was his chance and from the look on his face :( he probably thinks the same. He was a good loser.
