bit of a turnaround that by Jackie boy.
no trials for the police at hillsbrough, now this. disgusting.
justice for shields.
Is this the kid that got locked up despite someone coming forward and admitting that they did it?
I understood that the case was pretty clear but, if not, please tell me some more details. Why do you think he's guilty?
I hadn't seen that reported though, so think that it's a bit unfair to say i hadn't bothered to look into the details of the case.
Was just trying to reply to both posts at once. I thought at the time that maybe he'd had a crisis of conscience but then later realised that he didn't want to go to jail for murder in bulgaria. As you and pigfoot have both said, it seems to be a bit more complicated than that.
I didn't realise that the confession was considered to be false - i thought he'd retracted it because he didn't want to be convicted himself.
I think that the reporting here leaves a lot to be desired - none of the stories on the bbc website seem to present any reasons for doubt, i ended up looking at wikipedia.
he was found guilty in a Bulgarian court of law - you can't escape justice just because you're British, out on the piss and your team has just won the European Cup. Comparing it to Hillsborough is ridiculous and insulting to what happened.
It seems like a really complex case and I don't know all the nuances, but from what I can gather there's definitely enough reasonable doubt to warrant a retrial, but definitely not for quashing the conviction. Ultimately, the plastic kopites have really clung onto it in a kind of self-defining way to prove what amazing fans they are.
