Ever stopped a stranger on the street and asked them out?
i walked past this girl at lunch and exchanged like 4 glances and smiles, she even bit her lip a little as we passed. I was so tempted to just stop her but chickend out. Can this be done? Have you done it?
(no i didnt have my lunch on my face)

yeah i did it once
although i'd passed her a few times on separate occasions, and it was a very small town. she said no
I was hoping for a more successful story
You're doing it wrong my friend
You have to find out her hobbies, take them up and feign interest
most of my ex's did that with me so im use to being chased.
No.
Only mental people do this.
nonsense. i've seen it work loads
Yeah, in FILMS
I've seen people fly in films, doesn't mean I'm going to start jumping off the tops of buildings. Not high ones, anyway.
no in real life. seen it work.
it's no weirder than approaching a stranger in a nightclub/pub/ when you really think about it. it depends how you do it, you can't come across as desperate or psychotic obviously
It is weirder
because by walking into a nightclub, a person is effectively accepting that they may be approached for sexual or romantic reasons, whereas by walking down the street, they are not. It's weird.
Yes it is, it's totally different.
If you're in a nightclub or a pub, chances are people are there with the hopes of pulling. Plus, you can blame it on being too drunk if you're denied and make a tit out of yourself.
But if you just walk up to someone on the street and ask them out, then it's just really rude. They're just out on their business and then they've got some weirdo coming up and asking them out on a date. It's just not cool. It makes you look even more desperate, no matter what way you do it.
well whatever, i don't want to argue
cos it's not something i do anyway, apart from the one occasion years and years ago. but i really don't think it's that weird. all a person has to say is 'no thanks'. it beats being approached by chuggers
That's a bit silly
Well no
because if I jumped off high buildings, I would die.
She was biting her lip
to try and eat her own face off so she'd never have to see again.
...No I haven't.
no cos she was thinking about me NAKED!
i miss ralphcore
we all do !
yeah, in a roundabout sort of way not that long ago
more because our paths crossed on the morning walk to work, so it wasn't a one off thing. One time we happened to be stood together waiting at the lights and she was looking at me so I started talking to her. Met her for a drink. Got on fine but no real spark so nothing came of it. It's tricky though because you see people you fancy every day but it's a bit mental to stop them in the middle of the street. Had something similarly weird happen to me on the tube recently too.
if any nice-looking women want to stop me on the street and ask me out
they're more than welcome to
that is all
How do you exchange four glances?
Were you walking towards each other down a really long road?
Also: she was probably biting her lip to stop herself from laughing at your face.
1 from 5 metres away
1 from 2
1 from 1
and one looking over shoulder as we passed.
how mean!
you shouldve followed her home.
Thats what I wouldve done.
now your just playing with me
Woah!
You exhanged glances over your shoulders? You didn't tell us this. Seriously, that means she thinks you're cute.
That sounds sarcastic.
It wasn't meant to be.
I thought my opening post implied
she was looking in an obvious 'hes cute' way :S
I hate this retarded threads.
a) they're wanky
b) depending on the user there are massive double standards over wether they're cute or pervy
b)
story of your life?
Ian Brown met his wife doing this.
Why do I know that?
He stopped you on the street to tell you
:DDD
underrated post
you're his wife ?
oh god this is close to the bus stop thread.
so fucking close my eyes are bleeding
the bus stop thread was great to begin with
it just got really lame as day after day went by with no progression
I have, yeah.
That's all I'm willing to reveal right now. Thanks.
And yes, that it because I'm Ian Brown's wife.
are you willing to reveal more yet?
Not really.
Just that it went well. Very well.
Cheers.
and no, i've never done it
but i came close yesterday when i spotted a girl smiling at my belle and sebastian t shirt
sure it wasnt your 'I fuck nuns' tee?
that's in the wash
covered in blood
It's red wine
Not blood, you gullible fool!
I WAS SURE THAT WAS HIS BODY AND BLOOD
smiling at your bell end, Sebastian
That is hideously twee.
I was wearing my Mastodon t-shirt with Rasputin on it the other day. I walked by a bunch of people and I heard one woman say "That t-shirts disturbing isn't it?" I past a couple of girls and one of them said "Is that Jesus? He's looking into my soul". \m/
it has hedgehogs and tractors on.
but i need to metal-up my t shirt range
Good work
A friend of mine got much the same reaction from his Cradle of filth tshirts when he was a teen.
note: he hated CoF, just liked offensive tshirts.
i have = embarrassing FAIL
she was gorgeous as well
you usually come across as a deperate loser
are you a desperate loser?
Not everyday
I think the answer is "yes".
What do you think gabrielle?
I work in a office
and I use DIS I think this puts me dangerously close to loserville. However I wouldnt say im desperate

Favourite bit about Wheatus:
the guy who plays the orange and banana.
Give them a pinch on the bum, eurostyle.
You'll soon find out if you're in. I find a scatter-gun approach is the best.
tried...
instead slipped on the kerb and went straight into a lamp post, fucking useless. On the other hand my wonderous beauty has led to a girl reversing her car into the one behind while trying to talk to me which was endearing in a scary life threatening way...
I think its a nice idea.
i have been asked out on the street but ive never said yes!
why do i attract freaks!? (dont answer that)
I had this thread scrolling slowly on my screen whilst talking to my boss
Every time I saw the screen out of the corner of my eye I saw a post that said 'Kill everyone.' Anyone remember that x-files where all electrical equipment with LCD screens started telling people to go on killing sprees for some reason? A couple more 'kill everyone' posts and I may have tried to take my boss down using only a hole punch.
But that was a different thread?
Maybe you really do have problems!
I posted this in the other thread!
I swear I did!
If I do try and kill everybody I'll be sure to tell the police DiS made me do it.
KILL EVERYONE
if we start posting this in every thread on here, how many latent psychopaths do you think we can push over the edge?
It depends maybe...
I got asked out by a girl who was waving at friends behind me and i waved back, she thought it was endearing and stuff while i was just embarrassed, but she came over and asked me out, guess there has to be some sort of pre-amble, dont think you'ed just tap someone on the shoulder and ask for a number.
didnt last, she was a bit crazy. like one of those hyper confident, seemingly omnipresent people.
I think
it's romantic. But so is dressing up in suit, even if it is for a court date.
there defo has to be a convo before you actually ask the person out
But the only time this happened to me was when I was 16 and a man asked me to go for a drink with him and I told him i was underage and he was like "oh that's ok, I'll get you in..." eh?
my old flatmate did
been together 2 years they have now.
Granted he's only done it to japanese or japanese looking girls..
but it always worked
see...
maybe it's just our culture, we're programmed to be all miserable unless we're drinking, and anyone who has the nerve to try and instigate a conversation on an average day is a weirdo or a potential stalker. it's sad that
goddamn you half japanese girls
I've a friend who does this too... they're really enthusiastic to befriend you, apparently...
or jpanese girls are on the pull
when they come here
Take a look at yourself.
Don't go asking girls out on the street.
Schoolboy error
Should've at least asked her for the time / directions / whatever, just to ger her talking, and then said something nice about her shoes/hair. Then you hand her one of the cards with your phone number on that you always carry in your pocket and swagger away.
I dont have cards
im a web dev coder anti suit kinda guy
I have memorised every DiSers face
So if I seen them on the street I could ask them out and come home and post about it and then they'd reply and it would be MAGICAL.
"Oh Jeff, fancy seeing you here"
This is how you do it:
1) You see attractive person approaching
2) About 10 metres away, drop a wallet or piece of clothing or whatever (maybe use a fake wallet in case they do actually steal it)
3) Attractive person shouts "HEY!" and picks your wallet up
4) You walk smoothly over, take the wallet, say thank you and start a conversation
5) If this does not work (unlikely), just hide in a bush until they are out of sight and then run back to pick your wallet up yourself.
You cannot lose.
Could you substitute 'the street' for 'the Baltic'?
Is it a secret DiS hangout? COOL.
it was a secret -__-
SO YOU'RE IN ON IT TOO, JOSS :(
I feel left out. Oh, you two go off together, WHYDON'TYOU?
It's where me and Jeff go to pick up chicks.
IT'S NOT FOR GIRLS!
IT'S AN ART GALLERY NOT A STUPIDLY MARKETED CHOCOLATE BAR
I think so-you could get quite a few cool points from pulling in there.
I'll do anything for cool points. I need to keep my lead in the cool league.
ANYthing, you say? ; )
I've taken girls to the Baltic but never asked them out there...
I promised myself I'd stay away from art girls, nowt but heartache! But damn I love them so... This thread has well and truly warmed my cockles - I'm not the only freak out there! Now what about asking out someone on the number 1?
i haven't, but it once happened to me, the other way round.
it was odd but flattering and he was cute. i dont see why it shouldn't be attempted (after all, maybe some things are fated!) so long as you are polite and know to back off if she or he doesn't want to be talked to, no-one likes to be pestered, especially in a 'romantic' way.
i hope you see her again and are braver the next time ^-^
I shall try my best!
I need to be less shy
I was asked out in the street once
it took place in the somerfield car park.
He said he'd like to take me to see Jet with him and asked for my number.
He was 26 years old.
I was 17 years old.
Needless to say, I declined.
You'd have said 'yes' if it hadn't been Jet though, right?
no. he was creepy. creepy guys are gross.
but nice guys are..nice, right?
yeah they are. I have a nice guy now though so it all worked out. Except he is more than nice.
^saying that is vommerific. but ac-u-rat.
He sure is a lucky fella.
i hope i can find a girl as nice as you some day.
*pssst*

Oh, right..shit
seems a bit weird
just going on looks alone. could maybe work with a couple of BUTTON BADGES
ooh she's got a 'THIS BITCH BITES' badge and a 'this is not a badge' badge even though it very clearly IS in fact a badge
feisty and a RIGHT laugh!
oh man, I've missed this LOL.
Yesterday after i read this thread i went to the Bank to pay some bills etc
Infront of me was the hottest guy in the world, well he was alright, nice shaved head, nice tattoos, nice dress sence & funcky manbag & definately noticed me. (probably because i was sliding behind him like a slug groaning) But anyway....
I was dying to ask him out after seeing this. He even smelt nice, but no i just stood there and we looked at eachother a few times.
I think he was 'the one'
:D
we should have a day were its politically correct to just ask out hot strangers.
i was thinking about that
we should make everyone ask out someone out to see what kind of response we get. It could well be a great idea. and a good opening line
''See, im on this forum right, and we have all dared eachother to go out and ask someone in the 'real world' on a date. How about it? Dinner?''
I definately already replied to this. God knows where it has gone
yeah i think we should! get everyone to have an 'ask a random out day'
''see, im on this forum yeah, and we have all dared eachother yeah, to like ask out a person from the 'real world' Dinner?''
doh stupid DiS
and it has to be in real life
no dis date loop holes. I dont think id open with 'im on this forum' though. maybe 'me and my friend' would be better ;)
No i like the geekfactor of it
so is it fair to say that when you walk around town
you're constantly SCOUTING FUR GURLZ?
i mentioned this last week but
i got stopped on the way home from work on wednesday a freind of a lassie who "think im fit"
i gave her my number
no
but there have been occasions where i have really really wanted to and probably could have got a number or something where they've smiled and i've smiled back or vice versa as we pass each other on the street.
i think i'm a confident guy but it takes some balls to stop someone in the street and ask them out within probably a few seconds of seeing them.
i would probably go with "you can tell me to get lost if you want but in the few seconds i've known you i think you're great, do you want to go for drink or something sometime?" if yes, check when she's free, get number, score.
i think this would be one thing i'd like to do before i die.
Sure...
Did it on the tube to a girl I'd seen on my morning commute a few times. Six months later and we're still going strong.
:)
awww :)
That's lovely,
I've promised myself that if I ever see a certain stranger again that I'll go for it, got it practised in my head but I'll still probably bottle it.
